(Y/N) was an Adeptus. Now that there was peace, she spent her time tending to requests sent from the people of Liyue. Her life was simple now: no more wars, no more fighting, no losses.
And things could almost be considered boring, until one day she...

Both Venti and (Y/N) returned to Jean's office in a state of utter confusion - the Traveler, a hero in both Liyue and Mondstadt, was looking for her twin brother, who somehow ended up being a part of the Abyss. While his role in it wasn't obvious, it was clear that he held a significant role. If Paimon and the Traveler were looking for him, did this mean they were both unaware of his actions and deeds? She would never save nations who were clearly against the Abyss if she supported them. It made no sense.
It seemed that the two of them thought the same, so there was no mention of who they specifically saw there at the camp when they reported back to Jean's office near dusk. She thanked them both for their assistance, and handed Venti some wine bottles that she had obtained before their return. Happy, he forgot the events that occurred earlier in the day through the magical method of getting drunk.
(Y/N) went home early. She was confused, and tired. She also felt curious. The Traveler was a strong, kind person, looking for a brother that was a part of an evil group. Someone who must have been deliberately avoiding her. Someone she didn't know had become like that. She felt obliged to tell her. Why should she remain quiet and let her travel through nations, looking for her 'lost' brother like if she didn't just meet him this afternoon?
She thought of returning to her booked room and hitting the bed early since she was planning to leave the following morning, but she was caught up in Kaeya's insistence that he wanted to drink with her before she left. She ended up falling under the pressure and meeting him in the same tavern she first encountered him in. Venti was sitting next to her, giggling and drunk, chugging down more and more glasses.
Kaeya swirled his own cup of wine, glancing at her. "Something on your mind?" He poured her a cup and pushed it towards her. "Have some wine. It'll cool you down."
She sighed. "Ah, it's nothing. I'm leaving tomorrow, so perhaps I'm merely dreading the journey back. I haven't even seen Mimi for two nights, so maybe I'm also concerned to know if she's forgotten me or not," she said, exaggerating her feelings.
Kaeya didn't seem convinced, but he nodded along. "Drink up, darling. It'll help sway those feelings away."
He shot her a charming smile, then watched as she lifted the cup and took a few sips. "I'm not risking a hangover in the morning."
The Cavalry Captain looked a bit disappointed, but then Venti started slurring and dizzily waving his hands about, so the conversation ended there. After a bit of time, and it was darker outside, with the street lights being turned on, she went back to her apartment. She somehow managed to fall asleep, then woke up early in the morning. Her body refused to sleep after that, so she packed up her bag and went to retrieve her pet cat.
Mimi fortunately didn't forget her, sinking into her embrace as she thanked Maragaret. The cat felt warm against her skin, like a heat warmer. Venti had come to the gate to bid her goodbye.
