(Y/N) was an Adeptus. Now that there was peace, she spent her time tending to requests sent from the people of Liyue. Her life was simple now: no more wars, no more fighting, no losses.
And things could almost be considered boring, until one day she...

After all the blood was finally washed, and the grass was torn and the stairs were shining in the light, she made herself comfy on the couch. Or at least she tried to, though the uncomfortable feeling in her stomach only seemed to worsen and melt onto the couch beneath her. She brushed the fabric, reminding herself he was sleeping right here only just a day ago. She closed her eyes, her arm hooked around Mimi, who snuggled close to her face and fell asleep beside her.
A few days passed. With each one, the sun rose and fell, the moon awoke and fell asleep, the city's lights shined and dimmed, and yet, the one person remained still through it all. She didn't have the courage to go visit the Pharmacy, didn't want to be presented with the news that he was still asleep. She already knew he was. She already knew his eyes were still closed and his wounds were still fresh and healing.
She sat outside on the stairs that were still glowing, even if they were polished a few days ago. Her cat was running around, chasing after a moth that couldn't fly too high. Her chopsticks poked her meal, occasionally lifting a piece of meat to her mouth, chewing. The day after Childe was taken to Baizhu, she skipped taking requests and spent a day trying to calm herself down. The next morning, she had met with Xiao at Wangshu Inn per usual routine. He didn't know how to address her feelings or the situation, so he simply shared some Almond Tofu with her and listened to her talk about whatever she wanted to.
She'd been sleeping on the couch for the last few nights as well. Sleeping where he had last slept comforted her in a strange way. She wished that it smelt like him, that it felt like him, but instead, it was just his absence. Yet, this couch was where he was the most when he was at her place. She snuggled with the blanket, trying to keep her mind quiet so she can fall asleep and start her daily routine all over again.
Her eyes opened to a feeling. A strange one, in her stomach. Her vision was hazy - everything was. Through the window, she could see a figure approaching the front door. Mimi was nowhere to be seen. Something felt off, but the feeling disappeared when there was a knock on the door. She opened it, almost stumbling over her feet. Her gaze lowered to a small child, Qiqi, panting from her run up the mountain.
(Y/N) couldn't understand what she was saying. Everything she was hearing was muffled, like a pair of headphones had been placed over her ears. She tried to take them off, but her voice only remained unclear.
But she sensed the urgency. Which could only mean one thing.
Somehow, she made her way to the pharmacy. Her journey there was a blur. So was her ascendance up the stairs. Baizhu was a mere figure that faded into the background when she pushed past him.
A choked sob restricted her breath when she saw a pale, unmoving body resting on the bed that Childe should be on. His eyes were open, the blue as dead and dull as his body. His hair was a mix of white and ginger, the redness faded like his soul. His lips were chapped, his skin as white as a piece of paper, his hands still by his side.
