A day. A week. One more. Two more. Time was a non-linear concept. It was subjective on how fast it goes. And currently, for her, it was taking its dear time to pass by. Somewhere in Liyue, there'd be someone complaining about how fast time was flying by, while she was pondering why everything seemed to be going twice as slow.

Is it his absence?

Is it the unresolved, unspoken feelings of hate, anger and something on the lines of love? Does love do this to you? Does love make time slow for you, when it's so far away? Does it make you long for someone? Does it make you so desperate, so full of need and resentment?

Again, it was noticeable to Xiao that something had happened. (Y/N) had only told Zhongli about Childe's sudden departure, due to the fact that he spotted her on the streets and asked how he was going. He showed no certain emotions in response to the revelation, but she assumed he would have been concerned for her.

One particular morning, after eating breakfast, the Adeptus went to the reception and was presented to a letter.

"This was dropped off this morning," Verr Goldet told her, handing the envelope to her. "Not sure who it's from, but I don't think it's a request."

She thought about it. Venti? He barely sent letters, maybe once or twice. It could be one of those occasions again.

"Thank you," she smiled, taking the requests. She'll read the letter on her way to her first destination. She bid goodbye to her, and Xiao, using the elevator to get down. As it lowered to the ground, she tore the envelope, folding the piece into her pocket as she unfolded the letter.

Dear (Y/N),

It's been, what, at most a few hours since I've completed my mission? And I haven't stopped thinking about you. That night, when I left, I couldn't sleep properly. I was so consumed of guilt that I ended up staying up the whole night. And I wrote this letter. You might receive this a week or two later, right when you must have forgotten about my departure.

I really do want to say I'm sorry. I know it doesn't excuse what I did. I know leaving suddenly without a goodbye is rude. I know that you've wasted your time and resources on helping me get better and I've reduced all that effort to ashes. I haven't used my delusion yet. I can at least be proud of telling you that.

Please contact me. Right now, I'm still in Liyue. Near Chenyu Vale. Send a letter to the main city there and I'll read it. Even if you hate me, or if you're angry, just write a letter back to me. Swear at me and curse at me but send one back.

Please.

After Chenyu Vale, I'll be out of the nation. My letters would take longer to reach you. I'd be on the move, and I might not get the letters you send back to me.
