(Y/N) was an Adeptus. Now that there was peace, she spent her time tending to requests sent from the people of Liyue. Her life was simple now: no more wars, no more fighting, no losses.
And things could almost be considered boring, until one day she...

The month after Childe stayed over at her place was a blur. She was bombarded with various requests regarding the lantern rite. It was a prestigious festival, after all, which required much effort and preparation. From transporting goods to the city from Chenyu Vale, to hanging up decorations, to picking fresh fruit and vegetables right from their root to give to cooks. She was pretty busy, and had only a few moments to herself when she got into bed. But even that was cut short, since she'd fall asleep immediately.
The festival was so close. Stalls were set up, people climbing ladders to hang up glowing, golden lanterns on strings connecting the buildings, or hooks underneath balconies. There were chefs and cooks selling cultural meals on sale, traditional clothes being sold like they were water. Gift and toy shops faced the same success.
From the moment the tip of your boot touched the bridge, you would be able to feel the festive atmosphere. A happy place, full of joy, excitement and hope for the new year. (Y/N) couldn't help but feel excited herself. Everything was getting so real. Everything looked so pretty.
And finally, the most awaited day of the year arrived. It was early morning, and she was sitting on a table in Wangshu Inn with her Adeptus friend.
"Will you come to see the lanterns?" She asked as she was eating breakfast. The Almond Tofu in front of her was being quietly eaten by Xiao.
"Maybe," he murmured, content with the food in front of him. "Do you want to watch it with me?"
She smiled. "I'd love that, if I find you. I might forget, though. This is the Traveler's first lantern rite here. I might help her about."
His golden eyes flit away at the mention of the Traveler. (Y/N) stifled a soft chuckle. "You could watch it with her," she suggested. "I'm sure she'd love that. Especially since you always find the highest places to watch from."
A light pink tint spread across his cheeks. He quietly chewed on the tofu, nodding meekly at the idea. He was considering it. "But of you?"
"I'll find someone," she said. For some reason, her mind went to Childe. He did say he came back to Liyue for the lantern rite... and her. Shit. "Or I could even watch it alone. It's not a big deal to me. As long as I see it."
He didn't look too convinced, but he didn't comment on it any further.
When she finished up her meal, she sat for a bit longer, telling him about how the decorations look so far and how everything looks great. He listened intently until she stood up to start the requests she received for that day.
