Meera

A week passed in a blur since the day Yash and my marriage alliance was fixed.

Well, we didn't converse much about it because frankly, it took time even for me to let the feeling sink in. Bhai has been spending more and more time with me since that day.

I know him better than all of them. He keeps the poker front just like me to guard his inner turmoil but, when he's in front of me he miserably fails at it.

This past week was a tough one indeed. The whirlwind of emotions was more than enough to deal with but seems like destiny was not in my favour. Last night my phone went off.

How are you doing kiddo? The man from the other side spoke.

I'm fine uncle how about you and any news? I questioned.
Bad for them or us?
Them of course, his smirk was ingrained in my memory.
Well, I am fine and uh... yes bad news beta.

My jaw clenched the moment his voice reached my ears. Who? I questioned.

Sumit Raizada, the answer came. My temper knew no bounds by the time that name made it to my ears. I knew that fucking bastard.

I'll be there in three days will you please take care of it till then? I asked him and thank god his reply was positive. The call was declined.

I gritted my teeth remembering the incident. I need to reach Mumbai in a couple of days but first I need to take care of a few things here.

Shefali, please clear my schedule for tomorrow and keep in touch with Khushi. Also, let the captain know about our flight to Mumbai the day after tomorrow.

Instructing my PA about my schedule I got to work. First on the list was to inform Maa about it and second was to purchase a ring for Yash. I called Maa.

Mumma, I need to tell you something. I spoke hesitantly because I knew the moment she came to know she was going to burst out on me.

Hmm, bolo Bachcha, is it something serious? Her concern-filled voice came back.

No maa but, promise me you won't scold me after listening to it? I cooed. She didn't say anything but I could already make out her annoyed expression.

Maa, I need to go to Mumbai for a day, trust me I wouldn't have chosen if not important. I spoke in a low voice scared of what she would say.

She sighed after a long pause. When? She asked. The day after tomorrow, I replied.

What about the ring Meera? She asked concerned about when to go buy the ring for Yash.

Maa don't worry I won't come to work tomorrow. We will get the ring tomorrow, I'll talk to the jewellers as well but please let me go it's really important.

Okay, if you say so and thank you for your first day off from work in the past seven months, she said. Sarcasm dripped from her voice. I chuckled and declined the call.

As I thought of him, my mind went back to our conversation the day we first met. He seemed a bit startled at my question about his hobbies and daily routine.

That was a trick, I wanted to know the basics of his nature other than the things I had already observed. He too was a workaholic like me.

He's reserved but what caught me off guard were his talks of his family. He seemed close to everyone in his family except for his Dadi Sa and Baba Sa. Why though?
