Meera
Morning sun gracing me with its presence alongside the sea mist of Mumbai. The city is known to be life-changing.
True to its essence, it did change my life and how. My life took the most unexpected turn when I found her. I found my haven only for her to be snatched away from me.
2nd August 2016, the day I lost the only person I found a home outside of it. Mumbai never felt like home to me until I found her, Shreya Awasthi.
Guilt consumes every ounce of me when I look back to that day. The day I decided to step into the world of darkness. I was naive and scared but determined to avenge her.
Shrugging off my thoughts I picked up my blazer and walked out the door locking my apartment. I reached Mother Mary's Church for the Sunday Morning Service.
Thirty minutes into the session my eyes blurred. Every memory from that day hit me like a truck. Nostalgia's a bitch for real. Thankfully no one recognised me here.
After the service came to an end I purchased her favourite Toffee Custard from the patisserie across the church and sat in my car.
The moment I locked my car my sobs turned into painful howls. The pain of not being able to help her. The guilt of not being by her side and the sorrow of her loss, everything engulfed me.
Knocking on the car's window came my White Knight. My saviour. I unlocked the car and ran into his arms. He let me cry, I cried on his shoulder.
But when I stole a glance at him, his eyes were unreadable like every year. His sweet nothings were urging me not to hold myself accountable for what was predestined.
His eyes were bloodshot, tears brimming but unwilling to fall out. After all, how does one react to it? When someone you call your world gets taken away from you.
His was an entirely different story. The agony of loss, the loss of his beloved daughter. The only one he had in the name of family. We both glanced at each other in assurance. He drove the car to our dungeons.
He squeezed my hand reassuringly as we stormed into the room. The visual that came to light was like an elixir to my eyes. He was tied to the chair, breathing slowly and audibly. His body was bruised badly and his clothes torn.
Khushi brought a bottle of ice cold water and I passed her a reassuring smirk. After all, she took care of the bastard in the last two days and how. I splashed the water on his face.
He woke up with a jerk. The horror on his face when he realised I was standing right in front of him, god I loved it.
P...please let me go. He begged. I took a chair and sat opposite him. Look Mr. Raizada we're both business people, right? He nodded vigorously.
So, let's take this as a barter deal, you answer all of my questions truthfully and I will spare you. I offered.
B...but we're meeting for the first time, what have I done to be treated like this, he asked. The audacity bitch. Dheer Chachu smiled sarcastically on his face and the next moment his orbs darkened. I knew it, he was on the brink of killing the bastard but not now. We need our answers.
You remember Arjun Singh right Mr Raizada? I asked calmly. His expression changed to horror. His pupils dilated and words stuttered.
Y... yes but h...how do you know him? I couldn't help but laugh at him for that. Kuch purane rishte hain hamare, I answered.
Now tell me Sumit why were you trying to breach our security and what were you trying to do by sending those buffoons of yours to my company? I asked in a voice laced with anger.
