Hey y'all,
I'm here to talk about what everyone is talking about right now. It's disheartening and frightening as a med student myself or a woman myself to look at the chaos that the world has unfolded into being.
As a young woman stepping out in the world, it scares us to know that there's constant danger lurking around us no matter how covered up we are. Constantly living in the shadows of fear is honestly something no man or woman wants in their life.
So, when we're celebrating the 78th year of Independence today, why is all of it so subjective? Why can only one of the genders roam freely irrespective of time and the other cannot? Why is one safe no matter where they go but the other isn't safe even within their own houses, schools, workplaces?
According to Hindu Scriptures, we put women in positions of equality to their male counterparts but in reality, no matter how hard working a woman is, she isn't an equal just because she is a woman.
Here, as an author too, things dishearten me sometimes to know that there is a certain section of some of us who romanticise non-consensual sex or R*PE in the name of dark romances. Not only that but we here have often witnessed SA and DV mocked?
How can something so inhumane be looked at as a gesture of affection? This is an honest plea with folded hands to everyone reading this, please be mindful of the content you consume. In no way do I say that Dark Romances are wrong but sometimes we forget the fact that they come with consequences of their own and we DO NOT tend to shed light on that.
🙏To all the readers/authors reading this,
In no way do I stand against your preferences or hard work but I would just want you to have a mind of your own and think for once, we won't even imagine ourselves in such circumstances, then why others?
Also, I know some of you might retort saying, "Oh but that's just for the sake of entertainment."
What we see or take in does affect us. Do not be mistaken and be mindful.
Also, to all the girls reading this, we need to build ourselves up to live and survive in a world as such too. Please be profoundly financially independent and resort to learning any form of self defence that you could.
Signing Off,
Diyaa.
