Meera

You... you cheated me the way your father cheated Baba. Shreya,...

Remembering the day your entire existence turned upside down is never easy, is it? Once called the princess of sunshine was thrown into a pit of darkness.

A pit of darkness, a journey where there's no way out. You can only enter and no matter how hard you try, you'll penetrate deeper and deeper into it.

A pat on my shoulder broke my reverie, Dheer Uncle. How are you bachcha? He asked.

Apprehensive, I replied.

Trust me Meera, You were never wrong when you took up what you did, he's your father. He can never hate you no matter what you do.

How are you feeling uncle? I asked holding his hands. I know, it's never easy to reanimate with the man you vowed a lifetime of honesty but he in return gave you bitter allegations.

I breathed out a frustrated sigh pondering the havoc that was about to wreak in my life and the storm that was in my head and heart.

Finally, the day arrived when I opened this pit of darkness. But, what does that come with is still a mystery. Either they're going to be safe and protected after knowing it or, maybe I am dragging them in darkness along with myself.

The door creaked open, which meant both Baba and Bhai were there. I'd call Dheer Uncle after some time and introduce him. Meera, what is all this? Why is it so dark in here? Bhai asked confused.

Bhai and Baba just take a seat please, there's something very important I want to talk to you about, I stated. Both of them grabbed seats across me and I stood up.

Bhai do you remember my eighteenth birthday, when we inaugurated the Mumbai branch of RedPear Travels? I asked going back to the lane of gut-wrenchingly painful memories.

He just hummed in response. I continued, you remember I shifted to Mumbai for two years after that. And in those two years, my life changed. Both of them convinced me to continue.

If you remember I had a PA named Shreya Awasthi, I asked. Baba nodded unable to say anything. She was my PA when she joined but became my best friend and my confidant there in Mumbai.

She was the closest I had to home in an unknown city. But, that didn't last long and somewhere the one at fault was me. I closed my eyes and breathed out pushing my tears back.

Shreya Awasthi, do you want to know how was she related to you Baba? I asked. Was she? He questioned and I nodded. She was Randheer Awasthi's daughter. I announced.

His eyes widened for a second before coming back to normal. 'That Traitor' he gritted in anger. He isn't related to me, if he had been, he would've cared to not cheat me, Baba spoke frustrated.

He was never a traitor Baba you should be thankful to him that you have your daughter alive in front of you today. I dropped and both Bhai and Baba's eyes widened out of shock.

Yes, Baba, he's the reason I am alive and he lost his wife and daughter just because he vowed to protect you, he was never the traitor you considered him to be. I reasoned to which his shocked expression didn't move an inch.

Dheer Uncle, I called. He walked in and Baba's eyes flared in anger. His fists clenched, bringing tears to my eyes. Uncle sat beside me without a word, after all, we anticipated what was coming.

I began. How could you Baba? Aapko apni bees saalon ki dosti par bharosa nahin tha? How could you even doubt him huh? I was furious at this point.
