Yashraj
Sun rising beyond the horizons and ascending towards the skyline marks the beginning of a new journey.
The journey of truth, commitment, trust, care, respect and love. I wonder if she would be anxious just like me? Yesterday when she hugged me it felt distinct. I don't like when people touch me whether family or not.
But her touch felt comfortable. It was soothing yet did things that I had never experienced before. When she put that chain around me, her breath hit my nape. It ignited a fire within me, a fire that warmed my heart. Today, within just a few hours everything will change. We'll be bound forever after today.
Descending the terrace I went to Maa Sa's room. She called me early in the morning and said that he wanted me in her room before the clock ticked eight. The door of her room was ajar, I pushed it further and knocked. A smile graced her lips as I touched her feet.
I looked at her. Her eyes had emotions I couldn't decipher. It was as if she was smiling but her eyes were glassy. She handed me a box which was heavily embellished. A jewellery box, I opened it. It had anklets and toe rings.
Yash, these anklets are ancestral. They were passed down to me when I got engaged, you have to give them to Meera. And these toe rings are the ones you'll give her after the wedding. She held my hands and said,
I'm really happy beta that you have found a gem like her. She lets you be the way you are, that's a sign that she will be with you no matter what. But Yash, I want you to promise me that you will support her and stand up for her whenever she needs you. You won't endure anything when it comes to her like you did for yourself, her voice broke and a few tears streamed down her cheeks.
I wiped them with the pad of my thumb and took her in an embrace. I promise Maa that I will be by her side whenever she needs me, I will have her back. She kissed my forehead and smiled at me.
In my room, I got ready in my Kurta. A black kurta and pale white satin dhoti-styled pants. Neatly gelled back hair, trimmed stubble and my cologne. I was looking at my reflection in the mirror when my gaze fell on the chain around my neck. A promise, I muttered under my breath and walked out of the room.
Bhai Sa, how are you doing? Both my brothers jumped onto me. I cocked up my brow. Both of them took me in a bone-crushing hug.
Do you even know how happy we are today? You are getting engaged, aren't you happy? Abhi asked to which I just nodded.
Oh, big brother don't you know the beast never smiles, Jai snapped at me. Abhi laughed like a maniac.
Don't you guys know that the beast can beat the shit out of you? I shot them with a murderous glare which surprisingly had no effect.
Nah, now that we have a beauty who can tame the beast, I don't think we need to be scared. A small smirk tugged the corners of their lips.
Listen, we're here to talk some serious stuff here. You remember Bhai Sa how we thought we were going to have a sister when Jay was in Maa's womb? We were convinced about that but then came out this ass, he snarked making me laugh and Jai pout.
So, his expression turned strict and his voice stern. We are warning you Mr. Yashraj Viraj Singh Rathore that don't think that she has no one. She to us is the sister we never had and we mean it when we say that you'll be in trouble if anything that bothered her has the slightest bit to do with you. Jai nodded in approval.
I didn't see that coming, I narrowed my eyes at them to which they narrated the incident that took place last night and, to say the least, I was damn proud of my brothers.
