You were just chilling in your room, getting some work done while also waiting for your mum to arrive since she's visiting, and you're making dinner. She told you to make a LOT because she said she hadn't eaten all day which you of course scolded her for because she needs to eat, but you made sure to make a lot of food as a result of that.
After about an hour of working you decided to call it and go check on the food. You were making roast lamb & vegetables in the oven and when you checked on it, was looking very very tasty already, but you could tell it still needed a bit more time so you put it back in for another half an hour.

You then hear your phone ringing and the vibrations go through your leg as your phone was in your pocket. It was your mum so you pick it up and as you put the phone to your ear, you could tell she was in the car.
"Hey hun, sorry I'll probably be a little late but I'm not that far now." she said to you.
"Oh okay. The lamb needs a little more time to cook anyway."
"Alright. Can't wait, oh God, I'm starving."
"I am too now." you responded.
"Hah. Well, see you soon then darling, okay?"
"Alright. Bye, love you."
"Love you" she said before you hung up and put your phone back into your pocket.

While you waited you decided to just jam to some of your favourite songs and only about fifteen minutes later did you hear a knock on the door.
You did a little jog to go open it and as you did, you saw a so familiar yet so unfamiliar face. For a second you didn't say a word and just stared at them, and then it hit you.

"OH MY GOD, DINO!" you jumped in the arms of your best friend in the whole world who you hadn't seen in person in atleast three years. It's crazy to think you're still best friends after all that time. It all started when you were both 8. From then onwards you two became inseparable until he went to study abroad at the age of 20. It hurt both your hearts a lot when he had to leave but at the same time you were happy for him, of course, you were just happy he was doing what he wanted to do. But you kept facetiming, calling & texting every single day. And when I say every single day, I mean every single individual day. Not a single day missed. Not one.

You got to meet after his first year but then it got a lot more busy so, yeah.

And here we are now.

He was there swinging you round in his arms as tears literally leaked from your face like the Niagara falls.
You couldn't believe it was him.

After like 20 seconds of just hugging eachother so tight you could barely breathe, you finally pulled away and grabbed his face.
"Oh my God, it's really you" you said in a shaky voice due to the crying and then went in for another insanely tight hug that also lasted a really long time.
"It's so nice to hear your voice y/n/n"

Ah that nickname he gave you. To hear it in person from that particular voice is the best thing that's happened to you in ages.

"Holy shit, yours too, Dino-yah"

You then saw your mum walk through the door.
"Is this why you wanted me to make so much food, mum? Because you 'haven't eaten all day'?" you asked her.
"Surpriiise" was her response.

"I can't believe this" Dino said as you two pulled away from the hug. You just stared at eachother for a moment, both with swollen eyes.
"There's something you're not telling me." you said to him; you knew him too well.
"Aw, man" he said as he knew he got defeated.
"C'mon, spill. Do you have a girlfriend? Did you get your degree?"
"I'll tell you all the main details later, but what I wanna say may just be a better surprise than me showing up." he explained.
"What could possibly be better than you visiting me-"
"That's the thing y/n, I'm not just visiting."
"What do you mean?" you asked, stunned.
"You know the house next door that was on sale but has now been bought?" your mum asked you with a cheeky smirk on her face.
"Yeah..." you responded pacingly.
"Guess who bought it?" your mum asked as Dino was pointing at himself.
