You and Hongjoong started dating about a week ago. You met around six months ago at work, now you two are happily together.
You two are currently hanging out at his place. He was preparing ramen for you guys while you sat at the kitchen island texting your best friend, Naomi. "Babe, is it okay if Naomi comes over? She said she's really lonely right now." you asked your boyfriend as you'd just discussed this with Naomi. "Yeah for sure." he replied with no hesitation whatsoever "I forgot to tell you earlier but Mingi also invited us over to his on Saturday 'cause he hasn't seen us two since we've been a couple, so ya know." "Okay yeah we can go." you responded. You just hadn't seen him for so long and you low-key missed him as you two were pretty good friends. "Naomi also said she wants to see what it's like talking to us two now that we're together." you chuckled as you said that, and so did Hongjoong.
Mingi is his best friend who he met like nine years ago and they've been best friends ever since. There are also six other boys who they met along the way and also became best friends with up until now but the two share a passion for rapping and making music so they became particularly close.
"Oh can you ask Naomi if she wants some ramen too?" Hongjoong asked. "Mhm" you responded and proceeded to ask your best friend if she wanted ramen as Hongjoong was just making some for you and him anyway. "She said yeah." "Mkay."
Now you were just waiting for her at you apartment, having a conversation with Hongjoong as his arm was now around you, and then there was a knock on the front door.
You went to go and open it, seeing your best friend standing there. You two shared a tight hug then Naomi and Hongjoong said hi to eachother too. "First thing I'd like to say, break her heart and you're kissing my fist." Naomi said to Hongjoong. However he didn't say anything, he just laughed. You shrugged it off then you and your best friend went to sit down on the sofa with Hongjoong who'd sat down there and brought the ramen there and placed your's and Naomi's on the coffee table along with a pair of chopsticks for each of you.
You two sat down with you in the middle, in a corner of the sofa, Hongjoong on your left and Naomi on your right. You all started slurping on your delicious ramen while also having a conversation which you started and throughout, you noticed that even when you were the one talking, he'd take glances at Naomi, when he was talking his gaze were mainly on Naomi, and when she was talking the way he looked at her was in a way he's never looked at you. You've always noticed these other small things that he had particularly for Naomi and not you, but you shrugged it off because you could say there were things he had for you and not Naomi, but it's kinda different.
Weirdly, this didn't bother you as much as it should've. That's when you realised...
He was only with you for your best friend, not you. How come you haven't realised? It's been so obvious all along...
You wanted to feel sad but, then you remembered...
You're only with him for his best friend too. What a shame.
