"Hey babe, I'm home." you said to your boyfriend, Kangdae, as you stepped into the house at 11pm after a long & exhausting day of work.

No answer.

"Hello?"

He was on the sofa literally on his phone stuffing his face with crisps.

"Oh hi" he said monotonously.
"Y'alright? You seem off." you ask him.
"Yeah why wouldn't I be alright?"
"Aren't you happy to see me?" you ask him.
"No, I am it's just..."

You could definitely tell something was off.

"...tired. Yeah, I'm tired. I'll wait for you in bed, yeah?"
"Okay.." you said as you watched him walk up the stairs to your shared bedroom.

You brushed it off and took a nice, warm shower, brushed your teeth and did your skincare before heading to your shared bedroom aswell. Upon entering you saw Kangdae still intensely staring at his phone. He looked like he was texting someone as you could see his thumbs tapping away on the bottom half of his phone. You reckoned he didn't even realise you walked in.
You silently made your way to your side of the bed and laid down next to Kangdae.
"I'm so tired" you said, rubbing your eyes.
"Oh ok then. Goodnight." he said to you emotionlessly.
"Night" was all you said before turning to turn off the bedside lamp. You were really weirded out by his behaviour recently. You have a hunch of what it might be but God forbid it actually is that.

Anyways you drifted off to sleep within a couple minutes. You low-key missed the way Kangdae always cuddled you to sleep in his arms and kissed the top of your head before saying how much he loves you and wishing you a good night. And the way he always ran into your arms whenever you arrived him from work. What happened to the real Byun Kangdae? You missed him.

The next morning you woke up and strangely didn't feel a presence beside you. You barely opened your eyes and didn't see Kangdae there. Perhaps he was in the bathroom, you thought. Suddenly you heard a ding coming from his phone. You propped yourself up on your arms to check who it was just out of curiosity and it simply said 'Mum'.

You know that isn't his mum because since you've known him he's got his mum as 'Eomma💝' in his contacts. You try to restrain yourself from checking as you know it's wrong but you can't help it since it's oddly suspicious.
You scooted over more towards his side of the bed so you can reach his phone and you grabbed it and clicked on the message. Since you knew his password you unlocked his phone with ease and was led to the messages with his "Mum". You scrolled up a bit and saw the things you dreaded the most, especially the past couple weeks. You saw messages like 'she's not home rn' and 'don't worry I love you only' and 'you're so much better than her', and they all had 'xx' at the end. This broke your heart and you really just wanted to curl up and cry for the rest of the day but you knew that wouldn't be worth it so you placed his phone back as if you hadn't even touched it and devised a plan.
You saw on one of the messages that her name's Geumseong. You were planning on playing it off for a tad then dropping her name into the conversation.

Seconds later, Kangdae came back, seeing you awake.
"Morning" he said after barely taking a glance at you.
"Morning." you said back. "How'd you sleep?" you asked him.
"Not bad, you?"
"Good. What are you gonna do today while I'm at work? I only have to go in at 2pm." you said to him.
"Dunno to be honest."
"Why don't you hang out with Geumseomg or something?" you asked, finally dropping it in ever so naturally.
"Yeah I might-"
And that's when realisation hit him. His bored expression quickly turned into a look of horror.
