Jay is working on a solo project for his food engineering course which he will have to pitch next week, so he's really immersed in it. And right now is the perfect time to do it because he can be in silence while his sister, y/n, is at a party. They live together since they find the most comfort in eachother's company more than anyone else, and they just like being with eachother, talking, gossipping, going out on shopping sprees, whatever. You can say they're inseparable siblings, more or less. As a plus, they go to the same uni, so it's just convenient.

Suddenly, three knocks are heard on the front door so he goes to open it. He didn't even realise, but it was quarter past twelve, so Jay's just confused why y/n's back so early and why she can't just use her keys to get in.
When he opens the door though, he's surprised to see a wasted y/n being held up by her two best friends, Danielle and Hanni.

"Aigoo, let's get you inside." Jay was baffled upon seeing his sister like this and immediately takes her from the girls' arms and lays her down on the sofa as they follow him in.
y/n usually isn't the type to get drunk, especially not as much as she seemingly is right now. Whenever she is drunk though, it's weird 'cause she doesn't say a word unless spoken to.

"What the fuck happened to my sister?" Jay asked Danielle and Hanni.
"Well, long story short, she saw Taki at the party when he literally told her that he couldn't make it. But that's not even the worst part. He was kissing another girl, and this obviously broke her heart so she just drank a lot." Hanni explained.

Taki is y/n's boyfriend. They were best friends, her, Taki and another guy called Ni-Ki, for years, they still are, except y/n and Taki are now dating (or not anymore) and Ni-Ki's dating someone else, but they're still best friends.
"Yeah, and it was getting out of hand so we brought her home. I was gonna have a 'friendly chat' with Taki but I didn't see him before we left." Danielle finished it off.

"Oh I'll have the friendliest fucking chat ever with Taki, don't you worry." he said through a clenched jaw. "Thanks for bringing her home." he said to the two girls.
"No worries." they both said as they headed back to the front door.
"Have a good night, you two!" Jay waved at them as they walked away from the front door, and he shut it with more force than expected.

"That twat is dead, I swear to God." Jay muttered under his breath through gritted teeth as he walked over to his sister who was now sound asleep. He didn't want to disturb her and take her up to her room, she looked so peaceful. Plus if there's one thing these siblings have in common, is that they can sleep anytime, anywhere for however long.

The next morning, Jay very much impatiently waited for y/n to wake up while working on his project with a coffee on the glass table in the centre of the living room. He was getting particularly impatient as it was getting close to 11am, when she finally shuffled and took a deep breath in, a habitual thing whenever she wakes up, Jay shut his laptop out of thrill.
"What time is it?" y/n asked in a clearly dehydrated voice.
"Ten. Does your head hurt or anything? I'll get you some honey water." he made sure his sister was okay before thinking about anything else.
"Yeah my head's pounding. Can you turn the lights off as well please?" When he came back with the honey water, medicine and an ice pack in hand, y/n accepted it and immediately took the medicine and pressed the ice pack firmly to her forehead.

"Why did you drink so much when you're prone to headaches and migraines?" he calmly asked his sister while putting his uni stuff to one side.
"I just.. I don't know. I haven't gotten drunk in a while so it just felt nice I guess? But I regret it now." she answered slowly.

"Who brought me home?" y/n asked.
"I was just about to get into that. Danielle and Hanni brought you home. They told me that you saw Taki at the party kissing another girl when he told you he couldn't make it, so you dealt with that by drinking your guts out. Do you recall any of this?" Jay asked his little sister.

Just like any hangover, one would usually start to remember what happened when told, even if it's not so vivid. However as y/n was listening to her brother talk, her memories weren't coming back at all...

"Honestly, no. I definitely didn't see Taki there and if I did, I would've remembered anyway because I was sober at that point according to that story." she said.
"Then what is the last thing you remember?" Jay asked her.
"Um... I think.. Danielle and Hanni ordering me endless shots of vodka.." she dug deep into her memories of last night to find that.

Jay was no detective but he could put a few puzzle pieces together. "You sure?" he asked.
"Mhm." y/n hummed.

"Those lying bitches. It makes so much sense. I was texting Taki yesterday and he told me as well that he couldn't make it, so when I heard what Danielle and Hanni told me last night I was like 'that lying bastard' but after hearing your side of the story it makes so much sense. And by the looks of it, your "friends" were trying to get you drunk and put this bullshit on us." Jay uncovered the truth like a real professional as y/n listened attentively.
"Why would they do that though?" y/n questioned.
"How am I supposed to know? You tell me."

After a moment of silence y/n gasped and covered her mouth in disbelief. "They wanted to break me and Taki up. 'Cause ya know, people in the past always said he's way out of my league, but I didn't think they were part of that too, and still are. I knew there was something up with the looks they gave me sometimes. But like, everyone is over it now, so why aren't they? It was strange 'cause every time I saw them they were giggling but I didn't think much of it, but now I realise they were talking shit about me the whole time. They've even asked me stupid questions like "does Taki really love you, do you really think you're good enough for him, have you two ever considered breaking up", blah blah. Oh my God." y/n said, her voice cracking, eyes tearing up.

"y/n, don't cry, it's not worth it. I'm glad you came to that conclusion and didn't just throw it away or dismiss it as if it's not wrong. When did they ask these questions to you?" Jay asked with his sister in his arms.
"Like every now and then."
"And you didn't think that that was a bad sign?" he asked her.
"Would you?" she asked back.

"Good point." he stroked her arm for a minute before saying "we should visit Taki. he needs to know about this, and then let's confront those two fakeass bitches. But first, you're having breakfast."
