I wrote this for my Valentine's Day one- shot book (you can go read it and request couples, even though it's not Valentine's Day) and I wanted to post it here, too, because I owe you all a new one-shot.
A request from Coolgirl1005
M'gann sighed and sat back, content. After a long day of doing what heroes do, she was ready to be done.
She hugged Garfield in congratulations for a job well-done on his last mission, and sent him to bed.
"Aww...come on! Robin and Nightwing are having all the other guys over for a Mario Kart tournament!"
"Well, Robin and Nightwing haven't been up for the past 28 hours. Now go to bed!" M'gann gently scolded with a smile.
Beast Boy reluctantly gave in to his big sister's walked down the hall to his room, leaving M'gann alone in the Watchtower's mission room.
"Wow..." She thought to herself as she looked around the emptiness. "This is the first time I've been single on Valentine's day. Well, when I was able to celebrate it here, on Earth."
She floated over to the window and placed a green hand on the cool window, looking up at the Earth. So pristine, so beautiful, so peaceful, so lovely, like the Earth she'd imagined from all the TV shows that she used to watch back on Mars.
"Penny for your thoughts?"
M'gann smiled at the reflection of the "Boy of Steel" as he approached her from behind. "Nothing much." She said. But her red blush gave it away.
Connor leaned against the window too. "Come on, you know I know you well enough to know that's not true."
M'gann chuckled and looked down at the floor. She let her hand drop back to her side and looked up into Connor's crystal-blue eyes.
"Well...I guess...I guess I was thinking about..." she rubbed her eyes with the heel of her hand and mumbled something to her arm.
"What was that? I didn't catch it."
M'gann quickly looked back up at Connor with a lopsided grin. He had super hearing. He'd heard it, and they both knew it!
"Alright, fine!" M'gann threw her arms up in the air, "I was thinking about you!"
His callaused fingers linked with hers. "Is there a problem with you thinking about me?" He asked, reaching for her other hand.
M'gann was unsure, and moved her hand out of his reach. But he had an iron grasp on her right hand, so she couldn't walk away.
"M'gann, what's wrong?" He asked, trying to pull her back to him.
"N-nothing." She whispered. It felt so wrong being alone with him, so awkward. Did he still think of her the way she thought of him?
He tugged at her arm again.
"Connor, what are you doing?" She whispered as he pulled her closer.
"What I should have had the courage to do a long time ago." He whispered, gently brushing a few stray, red bangs away from her eyes.
With that, Superboy kissed Miss Martian.
M'gann was immediately surprised, but when Connor didn't pull away, she relaxed. She remembered this, but she didn't remember how much she missed this.
After what seemed to be much to short a time, they broke apart, Connor still holding M'gann's hand tightly.
"M'gann, will you be my Valentine?" He whispered, touching his forehead
She blushed a bright red against her green cheeks, giggling like she used to do when she was a teenager. "Do you even have to ask?"
"Oh, come on!" M'gann didn't need her telepathy to know that was La'gaan.
The "Idiot From The Black Lagoon" stood in the doorway, a crestfallen expression on his fishy face.
With a flick of her wrist, M'gann made the door slam shut, giving her and Connor some privacy once more.
The two of them turned back to the window, watching the world spin beneath them. Just as they had done over five years ago on New Year's Day.
M'gann sighed happily and leaned her head on Connor's shoulder. She caught his smile, and moved closer.
Maybe this Valentine's day wouldn't be so bad after all.
