Before y'all ask, YES THERE WILL BE MORE. IF YOU CAN'T READ THE TITLE IT SAYS "PART ONE".
Connor had nothing better to do, so he decided to see if M'gann was interested in doing anything. As he approached her bedroom, she rushed past him, her blue cape flying out behind her and she flew through the halls.
"M'gann?" Before Connor could gather himself and guess what M'gann was doing, she flew past again, lugging a huge cardboard box behind her.
Connor looked in the open doorway of her bedroom, taking in the mess of what she still owned that hadn't been destroyed in the destruction of Mount Justice. They'd moved into the Watchtower last month, just after the Reach invasion ended.
"I thought you finished unpacking." He chuckled. "Can I help you?"
M'gann sighed, brushing off the cover of her favorite cookbook, the one he had given her, back when they were together. Maybe when they were done here they could go bake some cookies for the team's next training session.
"No, I'm good." She said. Waving her hand, the cookbook flew up into the air, along with the other books on her shelf, landing a little-less-than-neatly in the box on her bed. The rest of her belongings followed, until they were all just stuffed in there.
"M'gann, what's going on?" Connor asked.
Hearing the commotion in M'gann's room, Beast Boy poked his head in, followed by Bart, Cassie, Tim, Jaime, and Virgil.
"Hey sis, is everything okay?" Gar asked.
"What's going on? Is something wrong?" Artemis asked as she happened upon the group. Right behind her were Kaldur, Mal, Karen, and La'gaan.
M'gann smiled in spite of herself, but she didn't meet anyone's eyes as they crowded around her bedroom door.
"Nothing's wrong you guys, I'm just...I'm getting married!"
"There was exactly one second of complete silence before everyone, in complete unison, shouted out. "WHAT!?"
-------
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're getting married to some guy you've never met before?"
"Yes, Karen, that's the twentieth time I've said that in the past four days." Mgann said, slumping back in the pilot's seat. The whole team, plus Wolf, Sphere, and Martian Manhunter, were onboard the bioship for the three day flight to Mars. Today was the third day of their flight, and they would be approaching Mars in a couple of hours. Beat Boy sat slumped over the front controls, watching the red dot in the distance slowly growing larger.
"While the tradition may seem old-fashioned to you, many cultures still practice arranged marriages. On Mars, it is a custom reserved only for nobility. It is an honor to be considered."
"I'm guessing especially if you're a White Martian," Tigress gave J'onn a suspicious side-eye, and the wizened alien reluctantly nodded.
"But why you?" Mal asked. "You're not hiding some Martian royal blood from us, are you?"
"No! At least, I don't think so..." M'gann said nervously.
"Huh?" Batgirl asked, voicing everyone's thoughts.
"Martian government is very unstable," Connor said, to everyone's surprise. "Anyone could have taken the throne since M'gann and J'onn left."
"How'd you know that?" Garfield asked him.
Connor shrugged. "Cadmus."
M'gann wasn't exactly forthcoming on details about Mars, her life there wasn't a happy time for her. While she embraced her Martian abilities, she considered Earth her home and culture.
