"Connor, hurry up! We're going to be late!"

"M'gann, we aren't going to miss anything. They can't start without the bride, can they?" Connor asked.

"Oh, right." M'gann giggled nervously, running her hands through her pixie cut.

"I think you're more nervous than she is." Connor told his wife, shoving the peanut butter and other food from breakfast back in the cupboard.

"And you aren't?" M'gann asked brushing his mind with hers.

Connor sighed, turning to face the woman he'd married over twenty years ago. "It's all going to be fine."

"I'll believe that when you do." M'gann said, placing her hands on her hips.

Connor sighed, hanging his jacket on the back of the chair. "She's my daughter, M'gann. My one and only baby girl."

"And this is what she wants. You've seen how she acts when she's with Orion, they make each other happy. Besides,  you've seen him grow up. You know he's a good kid." M'gann pointed out.

Connor sighed, slumping into the chair specially built to withstand the super-strength of all the men in the Kent household. "That's what I'm afraid of." he admitted.

"Mom, Marie needs your help with her dress!" Martin's thoughts echoed through the house.

M'gann Kent shook her head and smiled. "I'll be right there."

"Hey," She placed a hand on Connor's shoulder. "It will all work out. You'll see." She kissed his cheek, and went off to help their daughter prepare for her special day.

-------

The wedding was held at Kent farm, and Connor had to admit he'd never seen his daughter look so beautiful.

"You nervous, Daddy?" Marie asked, gripping his elbow tightly.

Connor nodded shakily.

"Don't worry, I am too." She assured him.

The music began to play, and there was no turning back. Keeping a steady pace, Connor led his only daughter down the hall.

He remembered when Marie was only four. M'gann was in the hospital with Clark, and Marie had convinced Connor to play dress-up with her. For their wedding game (Marie had made Connor play the groom), she had shifted into a gorgeous white dress, even more fabulous than the one she wore now. Marie had been so excited  to be Clark's big sister that she wanted to get married and have kids of her own too.

Connor remembered the sleepless nights following that, worrying about how his children- he now had two of them- would one day grow up and leave him.

Two years after that, Martin had been born. Marie was the only one who smiled through Doctor Strange's announcement that her new baby brother was deaf. It had been Marie, with her inquisitive kindness, that reminded everyone that they were Martians, Martin would be able to talk to them one day.

For three years, he'd just shared emotions and impressions, but Marie was right. Soon enough, Martin had begun forming articulate thoughts and learning sign language faster than any other child.

Now the three children that he loved so much were all grown up; joining the Justice League, saving the world, and moving on.

All of this ran through Connor's head as he watched her take her vows, now a strong, confident, beautiful young woman. There had been a few breakdowns along the way, but you could hardly tell now.

M'gann leaned against Connor's shoulder, crying into a tissue. Not too far away, Ma Kent was doing the same.

"Women." Connor thought with a chuckle, feeling something wet running down his own cheek. M'gann slapped his arm good-naturedly.

"Orion Nelson, do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?"

Orion swallowed, nodding as firmly as he could as he said "I do." For a moment, Connor sympathized with the poor boy, he knew how overwhelming it was to stand at the altar.

"Marie Elizabeth Kent."

Connor was transported back in time.

"Congratulations!" It's a girl!" Dinah placed the yellow bundle in Connor's arms. She was pale green, definitely having inherited her mother's shapeshifting powers at the very least.

"A girl..." M'gann smiled, her pained tears turning into tears of joy.

"What was the name we decided on again?" Connor asked, carefully sitting in the chair next to Megan's bed and trying not to disturb the sleeping child in his arms.

"Marie." M'gann reminded him, taking her turn to hold their daughter.

"Marie Elizabeth Kent."

"I do."

No, it was too quick. It couldn't be over, not yet. Just yesterday he watched her take flying lessons from Uncle Clark and  come home to her first batch of burnt cookies.

Connor needed his baby girl back.

"You may kiss the bride."

M'gann placed a gentle hand on her husband's chest.

"Connor, it'll be alright. She's still yours, it's just that now she has someone else looking out for her too."

M'gann always knew what to say to calm him down.

"I love you M'gann M'orzz."

"I love you too, Connor Kent."

The reception was held in the backyard of the Kent house, under the tree with the tree house that was passed  down from Clark to his niece and nephews. It was Marie's favorite place, the perfect place for her wedding.

"Dad?" Marie grabbed his hand as he was about to keep Wally and Wendy from devouring all the appetizers.

"Yes princess?"

Marie looked down at the  tips of her shoes, poking out from under her skirt. "Are you ready for our dance?"

Connor kissed her forehead. "Of course I am."

Everyone clapped as the two of them took the dance floor, just the two of them.

One of Marie's favorite songs began to play, "Waiting for Superman", by Daughtry. She used  to complain about how she'd never find the perfect "Superman" guy, and he'd tell her she didn't need the perfect guy, because she was already perfect.

"Dad?" Marie whispered again.

"Yes?"

Marie stopped dancing to hug her father. "I love you so much."

Connor was so surprised that he almost stopped dancing. Slowly, he hugged her back, still rocking  her back  and forth like he used to do when she was just a baby.

"I love you too, Marie."

He caught sight of M'gann's tear-stained smile on the other side of the yard, an arm each around Clark and Martin.

They were all moving on, all growing up, but at least they were together.

And hopefully, that wouldn't ever change.
