"Superboy!" Miss Martian screamed. She reached her hand out to him, but he turned away. The fire was getting brighter, hotter. M'gann almost felt like she was melting.

"Connor!" She screamed again, trying to crawl towards him. Spots began to blacken her vision, how she'd managed to stay conscious this long was baffling, but she couldn't pass out yet, she had to stay alive.

Connor's figure grew smaller and smaller in the distance, but still she called out to him. How could he not hear her?

"CONNOR!" She screamed one more time, about to lose consciousness. And this time she felt something rough and strong, but gentle all the same, grab her arm.

"M'gann? M'gann! Wake up!" She gasped and found herself back in her room at Mount Justice. Connor was there, worry and concern written all over his usually stoic face.

"M'gann, are you alright?" He asked, holding her in his arms. In reply, M'gann burst into tears and buried her face In his shirt.

It took a while, but she was able.to calm down enough to explain her dream to Connor. He was unusually patient through it all, and when she finished he cradled her head to his shoulder and ran his fingers through her hair.

"I'd never leave you like that," he whispered. She'd never heard him this tender, this gentle before. It was a tone he saved for her.

But after her dream, M'gann wasn't sure if she could trust him like that.

"Promise?" She asked him.

Without hesitating, Connor replied firmly and resolutely, "I promise."

-------

"Miss Martian to team, are you there?" M'gann asked telepathically. They'd lost contact an hour ago, and since then she'd been trying desperately to find them.

"Connor?"

Finally, she made contact with Aqualad, who directed her to a small copse of trees that hid her team within.

The others were extremely quiet, which was strange. Zatanna was crying for some reason, and Robin had his arms around her, glaring at the ground. Artemis had her head on Wally's shoulder, and both were strangely somber.

Wally quickly caught sight of M'gann and paled.

"M'gann, you've got to leave, now." He said, speeding up in front of her before she could come any closer.

"Why?" M'gann asked, confused.

"M'gann, you've got to go," Artemis said, stepping closer.

M’gann was about to protest when the fire cast a suspicious glow on Aqualad, who knelt over something sadly.

“Aqualad?” M’gann asked. flying around her teammates to their leader. Kaldur was like a brother to her, maybe he could give her some straight answers.

She reached Aqualad, and stopped as Zatanna’s sobs reached a crescendo.

“No.” she whispered desperately.

“M’gann...”Wally started, putting a hand on her shoulder.

“NO!” M’gann screamed in denial, throwing herself at the lifeless body, “Connor! Connor, wake up! You promised!” She yelled as her sobs echoed Zatanna’s. M’gann felt Wolf’s cold, wet nose brush her cheek, and she cried into his neck. Connor had always smelled like Wolf, and now Wolf smelled like Connor. He was the only thing she now had left to remind her of her dead boyfriend.

Well, that was quite a morbid ending.

How many of you out there agree that M'gann's reaction to Connor's death was our reaction to Wally's "death" in Season two? *raises hand*

So, I do a lot of these one-shots fro Connor's POV, so I figured it was about time that I did one from M'gann's! I hope you enjoyed it!
