I flipped to the next few pages but I did not see anything. That's when I remembered the last day he wrote was the day I stole his diary. I slid it under a pile of clothes by my bed quickly as Jaxx came back. "What's that?" He questioned, looking at the pile of clothes I hid the book in. I threw another shirt on top of the pile. "Nothing." I said quickly. He looked at me suspiciously before going to his side of the room to do whatever. I saw him writing on a piece of notebook paper ripped from his history notes, converting it to another diary, stapled together.
Today felt different. It was just another day of school. Usually when we would come back to the dorm, and after Jaxx would study his witchcraft for a bit, he would leave, but he would tell me where he was going. Usually to one of his supposed 'friends' dorms. But today, he didn't study. He dropped off his backpack and left without a word. With the free time I had, I got his diary out to find a better hiding place. When I looked at the front, I saw a sticky note on it.
PUT MY FEELING NOTEBOOK DOWN AND MEET ME IN THE FOREST BEHIND THE DORMS NOW
I swallowed hard. In fear, I did what he told me to. When I went out the back door, and walked a few minutes, I saw Jaxx menacingly standing under one of the trees with his arms crossed. I was already scared. The only reason I didn't turn around and run for my life was because I could tell he already saw me. If I tried to run or hide, I would be in even more trouble with him. When I started talking to Jaxx, he was furious. I couldn't blame him for being mad- Technically I could. If he was more emotionally open I wouldn't have to make assumptions off of paper. As he yelled at me about stealing, Fire was blasting from his shoulders. "WHAT DID YOU FIND OUT!!?" He intregated. "I-I just-" I stuttered in a shaky voice. He continued ranting about- Well I wasn't really listening. The fact that he was yelling at me scared me enough to just zone out. "ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING!!?" Jaxx yelled. My heart sank as I zoned back in. "Well I-" I began. I was interrupted with more yelling. As soon as he turned to me, out of reflexes and fear, I punched him in his face. Hard.
When Jaxx looked up at me from being knocked to the ground, he looked at me like I just killed his whole family. I was going to die tonight. He would totally kill me. If he was not going to, he was going to make me wish he did. "Did you just hit me?" He growled. The first thing I thought to do was run. I ran as fast as I could. As fast as my body would let me. My legs burned. All I could focus on was the running from behind me. Then, as if things couldn't get any worse, I tripped over a twig and fell over. When I looked up I saw Jaxx standing over me. I felt blood trickling down my leg. My arms did not feel any better either, so I did the only thing I could think of. I curled myself into a ball, covered my face with my hands, and hoped he would have mercy.
