"Koi" Greyson ♐️
Marshal
I touch the dark red grooves on my feet, then hiss from it hurtin hella.
Ow...
Grandmaster sets water between me and Koi. Koi leans over and rinses his hands. A little bit of bubbles apear. I do the same while keeping my eyes off the both of them as much as I can.
Whatever Grandmaster cheffed up smellin soooo good.
Grandmaster Awkanatwe sets a small bowl in from of me first. I bow while taking chopsticks from him. After, he serves Koi, then sits down with a large cup in his hand.
Oh my god... my stomach finna be so blessed.
I start grubbin.
Shittt. This shit good as a bitch. Oh my gosh.
I stuff cabbages and thin slices of chicken in my mouth. Broth starts drippin from my lips. I try to catch a lil bit with my fingers, but lock eyes with Koi.
Koi
You fuckin that shit up.
I smile and for real, almost laugh. He keeps his laughing silent and almost falls out. I force my face to go straight while I eat.
Grandmaster drinks some of his broth, then ladles some more for himself.
"Oh, so-now you two don't want to communicate... but when I separate you, you can't stay apart..." his words make me and Marshal straighten up.
We keep our heads down.
"I'd like a report of what's been going on in Lotus," Grandmaster says very professionally .
I look up from my food.
"Right now?" I ask in slight shock.
I look over at Marsh then back at him.
"Right now," he says.
"In front of Marshal?" My voice comes out a bit soft.
Grandmaster keeps quiet and nods. Marshal lays off his food a lil. I can tell he's getting more and more uncomfortable. I battle with myself, knowing that if I sugar coat anything I'd have my ass handing to me for lying.
Grandmaster would be able to tell...
"You want the great news, the good news, or the not so great and not so good news?" I ask.
"I asked you a simple question," Grandmaster gives me a warm smile; I'm reminded of how open and comforting he can be.
"Well, our lower pupils or thriving. There's a genuine stand out pupil though. They're having extreme improvements. I wanted to dig deeper into him, but I didn't want to cross Resh's boundaries... given that this pupil is Resh's star pupil," I explain.
Marshal
I sit there awkwardly, feeling like I'm not supposed to be hearing this.
I'm super full all of sudden... and nervous yet again.
"Gelato?" Grandmaster asks.
"Yes; he dropped a lot of ranks. His usual muscle to fat rations were off too, then he swiftly turned around," Koi answers.
"That's all of the great?" Grandmaster asks.
"Yes," Koi lowers his head again, but it feelings like he's lowering it in shame.
"And the good?" Grandmaster asks.
"There hasn't been any extreme chaos between Lotus members," he explains.
"That's very good; and the not so greats and not so goods?" Grandmaster asks.
Koi
Well...
"Chia doesn't show up to practice and meets when he should," I explain.
I glance at Marsh and can instantly tell his mind is running like we run around Lotus
"And the other?" Grandmaster asks.
It takes me some time to respond.
The other...
Marshal
"It's very personal to me," Koi's response makes me look directly at him.
He keeps his eyes on Grandmaster. Grandmaster motions his hand, waiting for Koi to tell. Koi repositions himself. I get odd feelings, but try to ignore them.
"It's personal," more emotion creeps in Koi's voice.
"Marsh is your partner. You too have a personal relationship-"
"But you're my guardian. It's different. I don't want to drag Marsh into my darkness at all, but definitely not with this," Koi says.
I can't ignore the way I feel.
I get flashbacks of the dream I had when I fell asleep outside.
He was in the water. His face was all bruises. He told me he needed to help himself.
I stand up, then bow.
My feet. They hurt so bad.
"Thank you for the food Grandmaster. Thank you for the lessons as well. Thank you for the lessons Koi, but this isn't my place," I make clear.
Grandmaster Awkanatwe
New knowing pierces my soul. Along with those understandings, pride for Marshal's capabilities come as well.
"What do you know?" I pick at Marshal to show Koi something important.
"I've had to learn to accept help, but I also still know we have to learn some things on our own," Marshal says before raising his head and straightening his back.
Koi looks at him with nothing, but love in his eyes.
He's grateful. I'm grateful as well... for the both of them.
"You're dismissed Marshal. Go wash up and rest," I lower my head to him with closed palms.
"Thank you both," he says and leaves me and Koi here by ourselves.
I know what you're going to say to me Koi. I'm not going to respond. I'm not going to tell you that I know, because Marshal is indeed correct. In many ways we must accept help, but we are also meant to figure out many things on our own.
