Kan hurried to the meeting location Book had mentioned in conversation the night before. The two of them had agreed to meet at noon today, but Kan got up late and arrived at Siam about ten minutes later than planned. He was terrified because he knew he would be reprimanded if he saw Book's face. Even though he warned the other person not to be late last night because he disliked having to stand and wait, when the time came, the one who spoke was the latecomer himself.
"You are late" was the first thing Book said to him, which was exactly what Kan expected. He sent Kan a reprimanding expression that was more mocking than displeased, which made him feel better.
"So, what are you inviting me out here for today?" Kan inquired again because Book had only responded, 'Let us go out and meet first; then we will see; I am bored at home,' and that was all the smaller guy knew since the previous night. His sole responsibility was to go out and find Book as per the invitation. He still had no idea what would happen today.
"Have you eaten anything yet?" Book inquired as they walked aimlessly.
"Not yet, bro."
"What would you like to eat first?"
"Let's buy some popcorn to eat in the theater."
"Is that enough to fill you up?" Book asked with skepticism, knowing that if it were him, he would be dissatisfied.
"It should be enough; I am concerned that if I eat too much before going to the movie, I will fall asleep. It wouldn't be worthwhile then."
"Oh, okay, up to you."
"We can eat after the movie." Kan proposed before they walked up to the mall's top floor to go to the movies.
Kan stepped up to the automatic ticket vending machine before scrolling to pick the film he wanted to see. But he couldn't decide, and he was scared Book wouldn't want to watch, so he turned to Book, who was standing behind him, and asked for advice.
"Which movie do you want to watch?"
"Which movies are showing?"
"Oh! I assumed you already had one in mind."
"No, I just wanted to watch a movie casually. You know I enjoy watching movies, and I can watch anything. You get to choose."
"So, could we watch this one?" Kan responded by pointing to the movie poster that was now displayed on the ticket machine screen. The background was a vivid crimson. At the top was a framed photograph of two men of different heights standing back to back, staring over their shoulders. In addition to the chubby bodies, the lower frame included three other characters: two men and one woman. It was a Japanese film with an eye-catching poster that misled the person pointing his finger into thinking it was about mythological creatures in the Japanese sci-fi genre.
"Monster?"
"Yeah, wanna watch it?"
"This seems interesting. I have seen a few brief reviews claiming it is a good film. It also won best screenplay. Book responded before squeezing himself into the theater and selecting his own seats.
"Oh"
"Row A it is." Book commented as he tapped his finger to choose his seats without hesitation.
"Bro, today is Saturday. Won't row A be prohibitively expensive? Right now, I do not have much money, and my credit card is not working because it has been overdue for two months." Kan murmured, afraid he would have to pay a hefty fee. He usually went to the movies on Wednesdays to save money on tickets. But now that he knew Book had invited him, he could not decline. Choosing the cheapest ticket price may be an appropriate option.
