The sun began to shine brighter as the morning progressed. The cold gradually turned into a cool breeze, making all four of them feel more at ease, as opposed to the agony they had endured in the early morning.
Everyone appeared exhausted after walking down from Kew Mae Pan. Nun and Can had run out of energy halfway through the descent, complaining nonstop until Kan got tired of listening. But he understood that for people who were not used to exercising, walking dozens of kilometers for hours, particularly up and down mountains, would leave them exhausted.
"Finally here," Nun exclaimed with a long sigh.
"Yeah, I thought we were going to die up there," Can said, lifting his water bottle with almost no water left and drinking it all.
"Next time, do not come if you are going to complain," Book advised.
"Oh, Book!! I am always complaining; are you not used to it? Damn!" Nun replied.
"True, Nun is right... We complained in Indonesia, the Netherlands, and about everything. "You should be accustomed to it by now!"
Kan could not help but laugh when he saw his three friends start bickering again. This playful, teasing relationship within the group had become normal, despite being previously unfamiliar. Although Book appeared to be the most reserved of the group, every word she said in conversation with her friends was equally cutting. If they had not met before, one might assume they hated each other.
Book led the way back to the car after they had begun to recover from their exhaustion. Sitting and resting there, taking in the natural scenery, had helped them regain their energy. Kan immediately threw his backpack onto the car. He did not want to carry it anymore after bearing its weight for several hours. At this point, he wanted to walk freely, without carrying anything that would strain his body.
"I am sore," Kan complained slightly, leaning against the car as the others removed clothes from their trunk bags to change inside.
"Kan, would you like to go first?" Nun poked her head out to inquire about her junior.
"It is fine, sis. You can go ahead."
"Okay, will you keep an eye out for people?"
"Yes, but the windows are tinted. Nobody is likely to see anything."
"Oh, right." Nun smiled as she gathered her new clothes and entered the car, closing the door with a loud bang.
"So, I will go change in the bathroom over there. So we do not have to wait long," Can said as he walked towards the restrooms near the parking area.
"That is a good idea. Girls change in the car, men in the restroom."
"Book, you are teasing your friend again."
"You can also change in the bathroom if you want, so you will not have to wait long."
"It's okay, bro."
"Alternatively, you can wait and change in the car with me."
"Sure, we have nothing to hide from each other now, right?" Kan replied with a raised eyebrow. Since there was no way to avoid the other's ambiguous actions, it was best to confront them head on. Then they would decide who had to back down.
They claimed to be brothers, but their actions suggested more, prompting others to take notice. Since Book insisted on that term, Kan would prove it himself: how long would this so-called brotherhood they talked about every day last?
He would attempt to challenge it. If the other person insisted on that stance, he would be the one to return to his proper position.
"Are you quite bold with your words?"
