Two weeks had passed, and the series they were all part of continued to gain popularity steadily. HashTag series consistently topped the charts with each episode during its airtime. Every cast member, especially the main cast, seemed to be garnering a lot of attention. Even Kan, despite being just a supporting character, enjoyed the spotlight because every time he appeared, he managed to steal scenes.
With his role in the series providing consistently humorous situations, people started recognizing him. Wherever he went, people began greeting him by the name of his character in the show. This made him incredibly happy. Whether it was his good fortune or not, the positive response allowed him the opportunity to participate in promotional activities today. Despite having only Poom, Sun, Book, and Kong as company, it was more than enough. Kan still didn't know why he was invited to join the promotional activities today, as he was just a supporting actor and, on top of that, filling in for Kong.
Kan walked in and took a seat in the available chair, intending to do his makeup and hair after Sun had just finished hers. The atmosphere inside the dressing room seemed normal until he noticed the gestures of the makeup artists when Poom walked in to talk to him or even when they walked by. At that moment, he realized that something was off.
Is there something wrong or not?
Kan was curious about himself, afraid that what was happening was the result of his own exaggerated thoughts or simply paranoia caused by the fear of being discussed by others. Despite the fact that he had done nothing wrong, the reactions of those around him made him uneasy.
He tried not to pay attention and closed his eyes when he saw the make up artist applying moisturizer to his hands to prepare Kan's skin before doing makeup.
Almost an hour passed with Kan having only questions in his mind but not daring to ask. The makeup artists, hairstylists, and many members of the crew had strange expressions and whispered to each other in an unusual manner whenever he walked anywhere. Even if each person sent a smile his way, hidden behind those masks, he felt that something was being kept secret.
"Does the team feel weird to you today?" Kan turned to ask Poom, who had just finished doing his makeup and hair, and sat down beside him.
"Um, yeah, it feels that way."
"Is there something going on?"
Kan asked, glancing suspiciously around the dressing room.
"I don't know. I think they might be talking about us," Poom said with a faint smile. It didn't surprise him much, since he had encountered such situations before. He didn't care much because there was no one on earth who hadn't been talked about. Regardless of whether those stories were true or not,
"Do you feel the same way, P'?"
"Uh."
Before they could continue their conversation, a member of the staff walked in and, upon seeing them, had a surprised expression. Given the close proximity of Poom and Kan's faces while they were talking, it was understandable that the staff member was taken aback. If it weren't for the quick reaction of the staff member, who told Poom to step aside for a moment to take solo and couple photos with Sun for promotional purposes, the situation might not have been as surprising. However, the sudden entrance of the staff member, combined with the close interaction between Poom and Kan, raised more suspicions than before.
Both quickly moved away from each other before the staff member could inform Poom that they needed him for a photo session with Sun. Poom left, leaving Kan alone in the room.
"Kan, feeling lonely sitting alone?" A voice from P'Palm, the regular makeup artist, greeted him as she walked over, holding a plate of pastries she bought from a street vendor in front of the company. "Want to eat?"
