Book's heart was still scarred from the frustration he experienced throughout the workshop. When he saw P' Num and Link together, he kept hearing the same phrases in his head, which distracted him a lot while on set.
Even though Kan repeatedly reminded him not to pay attention, it did not appear to help much. Book was not someone who took things lightly. He always overthought things.
"What is with that face?" Kan questioned Book after collecting coffee from the catering area and returning to his seat to apply makeup.
"Nothing."
"Nothing? Why do you look so serious, then? I'm your brother; I can tell something's up."
"Same old things."
"What has he done this time?" Kan realized Book was referring to someone.
"He hasn't said a word to me all morning."
"Huh?"
"He has not greeted me since we met this morning. He only glanced at me once before leaving to get his makeup done.
"So, what?! What's it to him?"
"I do not expect him to put his hands together and bow to me or anything, but we work together and do not have any problems with each other, so I am not sure what his issue is." Book's tone became increasingly agitated as he spoke. Kan understood how frustrating it must be to deal with a coworker like this. They had a relationship on the show, but they would not be friends in real life. Instead of getting to hold hands and possibly being killed off soon, they had problems before the show even premiered.
Before they could complain any further, the team arrived and took them both to get their hair and makeup done. Kan and Book had to keep their lips sealed in case anyone overheard, which was a major concern. He didn't want to explain anything and cause himself headaches. Getting up this early and not passing out was a miracle in itself.
Kan sat in front of the mirror, preparing his makeup for the scenario. During his reflection, he noticed Link talking to P' Num about something. He could not hear what they were saying, but he was certain it was about Book because their gaze was directed precisely where Book was seated. He quickly grabbed his phone and texted his older brother, who was applying makeup with his eyes closed in the other mirror.
But before he could open Line, he noticed the makeup artist leaning over and looking at his phone screen. Fortunately, he had an anti-glare coating on it, making it difficult to see unless you were seated at the same angle as him. Kan was not too concerned; he was just frustrated that everyone on set seemed to be constantly inquiring about other people's business.
Kan: You got caught peeking, P'
Kan sent the message before closing his eyes, as the cosmetics team suggested. He received a small notification sound from Book's phone, but no response text appeared. P' Book was most likely unable to speak at the time, which is understandable. Sitting motionless and letting the stylist finish was probably a better option.
Buzz~ Buzz~
While Kan was getting his makeup done, his phone chimed. He opened his eyes when the beauty artist sprinkled mineral water on his face to finalize the cosmetic application. His right hand, clutching his phone, unlocked the screen to check what message had arrived.
Book: Who is gossiping?
Kan: Who else could it be besides these two?
Kan typed and glanced over to where Book was seated. Book returned his gaze with confusion. Kan had to point out where Link and P' Num were sitting. Book sighed as he realized what was going on.
