Chapter Fifty - Four: Variable Star

Dirt was in her face and she was falling. Her hands were clawing at the empty space around her searching for anything to grab onto. Her heart was racing so fast in her chest her ribcage hurt. Dirt got into her eyes, forcing them shut, dirt got into her mouth filling it with foul taste. Her hand managed to grab something and her body jerked, stopping the fall. The high feeling in her stomach dropped, and her feet were dangling over nothing.

"Deku!" Ochako's voice shouted.

"Wait," says Tsuyu. "If you're here, then who's the Deku we just saw?"

Miya spat the dirt from her mouth and with her free hand she wiped the dirt from her face and eyes. Blinking her eyes back open even thought it hurt. Below her was a massive cavern and a huge dust cloud from the two giants sitting a hundred feet below. She couldn't see anything else around her. Above her the bright morning sun penetrated through the hole in the Earth and pierced her sore eyes. And above her at the edge of the hole was Toga, Twice, and a copy of Compress all peering down into the cavern.

She swung her other arm up and grabbed onto the pipe she was hanging from. "Holy fuck." she swore. Her hands were slipping. Finding it hard to hold onto. "You guys needs to get me out of here!" she shouted up at them.

"You need to grab that kid!" Toga shouted back. Miya faltered with a groan.

The smoke below slowly settled.

The dragon Hero had an unconscious Rikiya under her clawed foot. Around her was Ochako and Tsuyu.

To the far side of the cavern Sir NightEye laid with a cement spike through his chest. Possibly dead. Then there was Deku, Eri, and Overhaul.

Miya swallowed the bile in her throat. Her left hand slipped and she yelped; her shout echoed.

Overhaul looked up, enraged like a feral animal. "Star!" he screamed. "Get down here and fight!" he demanded. He was a humanoid creature with two other arms protruding from his body.

Miya looked down at the situation below her. She spotted Eri by Overhaul. Miya grabbed the pipe with both hands and lifted her body up and got her arms around the pipe and swung up her leg.

Ryukyu looked up and snarled. She lifted her massive wing and slammed it into the roof. "No you don't." The cavern rumbled and shook and Miya fell back. She tried grabbing for the pipe as her heart raced stupidly fast, and her fingers slipped, and then she was falling.

She screamed in delight with the wind in her hair. She hit the dragon's wing and rolled all the way down. Ryukyu flicked up her wing slightly and bounced Stardust into the air. She flew up, hit the ground hard and rolled until she slammed into a broken pillar.

Toga shoved the copy of Compress into the hole.

Stardust rolled onto her back coughing and brushed back her hair. She laughed, "That was terrifying." She saw the wing coming down on her again. She acted quickly and shot up her arms. Two pillars of Dark Matter shot up and pierced through the wing. Ryukyu roared throwing back her head. Miya kept her wing locked in place as she fought to regain her breath.

Ochako slowly sat up coming out of her daze and finding some more of her strength returning. She saw Ryukyu's wing stuck, and across the tavern she saw NightEye.

"Uravity, look!"

"NightEye!" Ochako's voice screamed.

"Take care of him, go on!" Izuku's body lit up with green electricity as he ran for Eri. The ground at the little girl's feet broke apart and a pillar shot her tiny body into the air. A spike erected in front of Deku slicing his right arm.
