"Hey, are you done here, cause I'll totally eat the rest." Hawks gestured to Endeavour's untouched plate of Mochi sticks. Kota, sitting to Hawk's left, shot the young Hero a sideways glance and politly placed the stick on his own empty plate keeping his glare at Hawks who actively ignored the look.
(Did the Program really fail?)
The three Heroes were gathered around a tatami table, scattered plates of desert between them. Only Endeavour's plate was untouched.
"Eat whatever you want, you glutton." replied Endeavour, arms crossed, and flames burning softly.
"I know, I'm awful right, but like I said, I have no self-control." Hawks grabbed the food from Endeavour's plate, each stick between a gloved finger.
Kota scoffed. "Just like Miya. Always eating. Both bottomless pits in your stomachs."
Hawks chuckled. "Being who we are takes energy, right?" he smiled at Kota, as if Miya wasn't a Villain and she was somewhere on patrol as a Hero. Like he had a late-night dinner planned with her this evening. It enraged Kota.
"Did you know I scouted your son after the Sports Festival? I mean, I admit I had ulterior motives. Having the son of the Number One Hero at my Agency would look Preeeeeeety good. Oh well, I'm glad Tsukuyomi was the one who joined me in the end. Shoto failed his exam! That's a pretty big mark against his brand."
Endeavour's flames grew stronger and brighter. There was a soft hum from the flames. "You know a lot for someone who didn't go to U.A."
Hawks glanced at Kota, and the old hero knew he was thinking about the Program. Something not even the Number One Hero know's about.
"I stayed well informed." was all Hawks said, taking a bite of the mochi sitting between his gloved fingers.
"Get to the point. I didn't come all the way to Kyushu to talk about nonsense. Tell me why I'm here."
"It's like I mentioned. Rumours."
"A remodeled Nomu, yes. Those grotesque puppets the League of Villains sends out." and it was Endeavour's turn to look at Kinetic. As if the look would remind him his daughter is a Villain within the League of Villains. As if the look was to rub it in.
"Remember when All For One was captured in Kamino?" Hawks says, to break the silent tension in the air. It was so thick, he could feel every individual feather on his back vibrating with the air. And it was all between the three of them. "They found a few dozen of those suckers too. The League's been quite busy since then, but suspiciously no more creatures have appeared. We MIGHT have snagged them all, unless AFO was hiding the rest somewhere else. Which could mean the League is looking for them."
"Since you asked me to team up with you," said Endeavour, "I assume you have some infinitive proof and not just speculation."
"Nope, I sure don't! Only what I'm hearing."
Endeavour jumped up from his seat, knocking it back and nearly pummelled the table over. "Bring me the cheque now, we're done here!"
"Sit back down, man, there's more to it than that."
"Hawks is right, Endeavour." says Kota, and their intense eyes meet. "There's more to it."
Hawks was fiddling with an empty stick between his fingers, gazing out the windows of the tall building where they were having lunch. "This is not the only place where Nomu's have been spotted. Bet thats news for ya? There's been reported sightings from across the country. Not so much that the media's picked up on it yet, but there's been plenty of neighborhood gossip of monsters. That kind of stuff gets filtered down to students and spreads fast."
