As I opened my eyes I saw a flop of fluffy blond hair. I smiled when my mind went back to the night.
I really fell hard for this guy, didn't I?
I brushed my fingertips slightly through his hair. His eyes fluttered open and smiled once he saw my face.
"Having fun, love?" He questioned. It took me off guard, his low morning voice saying those words.
"Always." I said to him after collecting myself.
I moved my hand from his head over his neck where some small red spots were turning purple. Newt watching my every movement.
I connected my eyes with his and he pulled me into a quick kiss. The kiss got deeper and deeper. But I pulled away from the boy.
"As much as I would like to repeat last night, we have to get up."
Newt let out a groan and let himself fall onto his back. I started to get ready and get dressed.
We made our way towards the camp where everyone was having breakfast or lunch.
I walked up towards Liz who was having a conversation with Aris and Harriet. I took a seat next to her and laid my arm down over her shoulder.
"Hey." I said to her. She turned to look at me with a loopy smile.
"It isn't good to skip breakfast."
I gave her a look, not knowing I slept in the car with Newt for so long. It has been a while since we really had a good night sleep in the Scorch.
I tried to tell Liz something, some kind of excuse for that but her eyes made her way towards her brother who took a seat next to me. He also had a cup of soup in his hands that I took out of his hands.
"I see you guys had a fun night." Liz spoke up next to me. I gulped, making some soup fall from my mouth at her words.
"Shut up Sonya." Newt mumbled below his breath.
"It is Elizabeth for you."
Newt looked at his sister confused.
"Shut up Lizzy." He spoke up again when he notice she was dead serious on her name.
A smile formed on my lip, knowing that young Newt called her by the nickname he used at WCKD. He never wanted to change her name to Sonya then. I remember them having a fight over it, as Liz didn't have a choice and that he should call het by the name she had given.
Newt told her that they got ripped away from his family. Her name was given from their parents and that was the only thing they had left from them. No other physical thing like a necklace for instance, just their names and memories of them.
Unfortunally they don't remember their parents anymore. I do know the story behind it all as Liz had told me at a young age. I really felt for the siblings, they truely had and still have a strong bond.
Even after their memories were wiped they still find comfort in each other. When I was young I always wanted a sibling like that. Liz told me she was my sister, but it still felt different. We never fought like siblings do that I really missed.
I chuckled at the sad memory that made its way into my head. Newt trying to comfort Liz after he knew he was going to get send somewhere. In the end Liz and I had to comfort the boy as he had no idea what was going to happen to him.
I did knew, but I wanted to give them a break. I know it is bad that I never told them what they were getting into, but telling them the reason they will not remember each other. That was way to harsh, even if it wasn't good for me to not tell them.
Was it time to tell them the truth?
My thoughts were disturbed by Minho taking a seat next to Newt. His eyes moved from mine to Newt. Minho passed an extra cup of soup to Newt.
"I see you had a wonderful night." He spoke up.
Okay, seriously people.
"What do you mean?" Newt questioned the guy. I mentually slapped a hand against my forehead.
"I don't know man." Minho started with a teasing smile. "But it looks like the car you slept in was made into a sauna."
"That is because we slept in it." Newt countered back.
"Yeah." Minho dragged out. "Slept."
I laughed at the two boys. I love it that Minho always had to say something even though it felt sligtly awkward.
"Have you given it to her yet?" Minho asked Newt while looking at me. I turned my head, slightly confused.
Newt grabbed my hand, pulling me up from my seat. Almost letting me spill the soup all over my pants.
He dragged me all the way behind a tent where no one was around.
"What is it?" I questioned him.
He put his hand into his pocket of his cargo pants. He pulled out a small bracelet with different colour strings. Newt grabbed my wrist and opened up my hand, placing the band into my hand.
I pulled it up closer to take a look at it. There were 8 different colours on it.
"Each string represent someone from the Maze." Newt started while my eyes were still on the bracelet. "Red is me, purple is Minho, blue is Thomas, Alby is green, chuck is pink, frypan is yellow, winston is white and Gally is orange."
"Gally?" I was confused he represented a colour.
"I am sorry about that." Newt spoke again. "We made it when you were in the Maze and you and Gally were closer then."
I smiled at the memory of Gally. Even though he held a gun to my head I knew he didn't really mean it. He was scared, like every other Glader.
I kissed Newt on his cheeck softly, as saying 'thank you'. He binded the bracelet around my wrist.
We both made our way towards the fireplace again where everyone still sat. I zoned out every conversation they were having. Keeping my eyes on the bracelet.
A bracelet that represent my family.
