i was enchanted to meet you.
"I'd catch a grenade for you, throw my hand on a blade for you." Jacey sang along with her ringtone before she actually answered. Looking at the screen, seeing who it was, she answered with a smile on her face. "Hey" She rested her phone between her cheek and her shoulder as she straightened a piece of Abby's hair. "Uh, hold old. Talk to Abby." She handed the phone over to her best friend. "Help him, he's lost."
She listened as Abby explained the directions to home to Tyler Barlow, Jacey's boyfriend of a year and a few months. They had both agreed that they would get ready for prom at Abby's simply because her home consisted of a grand staircase that the girls could walk down to reveal themselves to their boyfriends. "That's it," Abby said into the phone after an elaborate explanation. "Do you want to talk to Jay? ... Ok then, see you soon. Bye." Abby hit the 'End Call' option on Jacey's phone before handing it to her.
"Are you just wearing your hair straight?" Jacey asked, placing the straighter on the vanity, where Abby had all of her makeup, hair products, and other girly necessities.
"Yeah, no need to be fancy," Abby ran her fingers through her hair and teased it a bit with her fingers before she got up from the bench she was sitting on. Abby glanced over at the clock, seeing it was almost seven. They were supposed to be ready to head downstairs by now, but being the girly girls they were, they lost track of time talking about their evening plans with their boyfriends before they actually began hair and makeup. "So, I'll take the bedroom, and you take the bathroom," Abby stated as she retrieved her dress from her closet. It wasn't as if it needed to be said. That's how it always was, since they were in elementary school. They had been friends just that long to know their designated changing areas in each other's homes.
Jacey grabbed her dress, which had been neatly placed on Abby's bed, and her cell phone and headed into the bathroom adjacent to Abby's room. Closing the door behind her, she hung her dress on the hook on the back of the bathroom door. She checked her phone, seeing she had a text from Tyler. She shook her head, wondering what in the world he could have texted her that was so important that he couldn't wait a few more minutes to tell her when she made her way down the stairs.
"Didn't you tell me to be here for 7? You're 15 minutes behind schedule. Lol. I'm just kidding, love. Your parents are here. Did you know that? Why didn't you tell me?"
She laughed a bit. She didn't even know her parents were going to show their faces at Abby's house for pre-prom pictures until this morning, and telling him somewhat slipped her mind.
"I didn't know until this morning that they were going to come. My dad was at the house today, and I was totally shocked. And don't try to rush me; I'm wasting time simply by texting you right now. :P"
"Then go get dressed. I can't wait to see how you look. Oh, and your sister is hitting on me. Hurry please"
"5 years wasn't enough for you? Had to go the full 19? Lol"
"Hahaha, funny. Just hurry so that i can see your pretty face."
She smiled and put her phone down on the countertop. She couldn't wait until they saw each other. It was going to be their first time going out in dressy attire. All of their dates had been simple, and she didn't mind that at all. They were serious about each other but didn't want to make it too obvious. She looked at her hair in the mirror and was pleased with the up-do Abby had managed to create in about 30 minutes and a million bobby pins.
