absentmindedly making me want you.
"Mommy, you don't have to stay with me. I'm a big girl!" Kaylee stated once she noticed both Theresa and Jacey were still in her classroom after she finished hugging a few of her friends whom she remembered from her previous year of schooling.
"We have to listen to your teacher say a few things before we can leave, Kay," Theresa told her daughter before she headed back over to her little group of girlfriends. "Put a smile on your face for your sister, Jacey Marie," Theresa said to her eldest noticing the slightly depressed look that sat on her face. Jacey forced a smile as she pulled her phone out of her purse after feeling it vibrate. For the first time ever, she had actually remembered to put her phone on vibrate when entering a place where it was supposed to be silenced. She read the text from Abby, replied quickly, and put the phone back into her purse.
"Abby's supposed to be bringing me her car today before she leaves for Baton Rouge," Jacey told her mother, that same depressed look reappearing on her face. She already wasn't speaking to Tyler, and today her best friend was leaving for college.
"What time does she leave?" Her mother asked. Jacey pulled out her phone and looked at the text again, already forgetting the time Abby had given. She slides her phone into her pants pockets.
"JACEY!!!!!!!!!" Jacey heard a little voice scream right before she could relay to her mother the time Abby would be stopping by. Jacey looked at the little body running toward her full speed, causing her to smile genuinely for the first time in a few days. Jacey handed her purse to her mother and scooped Jimmy up as soon as he reached her.
"TYLER!!!!!" Kaylee got up from her group of friends and bolted toward Tyler, who was still standing near the classroom door.
"I missed you," Jimmy whispered as he and Jacey hugged each other tightly. She couldn't help but admit to herself in her head that she missed him as well. Even though it was killing her not to speak to Tyler, it was killing her just thinking about Jimmy and all he had been through and knowing that she had stepped out of his life when she stepped out of Tyler's. "I was mad at you, but Tyler told me not to be," Jimmy stated once their hug subsided.
Jacey frowned a little at the child's words. "Were you mad that I left you?" She asked, and Jimmy nodded. "I'm sorry. I was just mad at Tyler. I thought about you every day though."
"Is Tyler still in timeout?" Jacey chuckled a little and nodded.
"Yes, he's still in timeout." Jimmy's facial expression turned sour at Jacey's words. "But..." She tried her best to find something to say quickly to lighten his mood before the school day started. "I'm sure it won't be for much longer and everything will be back to normal." She told him and his face lit up.
"Yay!" She smiled back at him and hugged him again before she put him down. Then, he ran over to Tyler and Kaylee, who were standing near her little group of friends. Knowing Kaylee, she was most likely showing Tyler off to her friends, which caused Jacey to smile despite how upset she still was with Tyler.
She watched Kaylee and Jimmy hug each other as Tyler stood and looked over in her and her mother's direction. Putting her head down a bit, she noticed his feet stop dead in front of her. She lifted her head so that her eyes met his. "Hey," She said barely above a whisper. She had been avoiding talking to him for the past two weeks, afraid of how the conversation would be. Terrified it would truly be the end of them. She held back the urge to cry as she looked at him. He seemed to be trying his best not to look her in the eyes.
