this is me swallowing my pride standing in front of you, saying i'm sorry for that night.

"We've been back together for two weeks now, and things still aren't right," Tyler said, leaning back in his office chair.

"What you mean, man?" Robert asked from the other side of Tyler's desk.

"She's sooo....so distant," Tyler sat, wondering if distant was the right word. "She'll be right there in front of me. She'll hug me and kiss me, but nothing is there. Even her words are empty. I so badly want to upset her just to get a real emotion."

"I know you don't want to hear this, but maybe it's just time to let this relationship go," Robert advised, getting up from his chair.

"Hearing it from you doesn't even phase me. I've been telling myself the same thing. I don't want us to end up hating each other, so maybe it is time. Maybe the relationship just can't be fixed." Tyler's head was low, and he didn't want to look up. He wasn't okay. He thought he had Jacey back, but he didn't. He felt things were worse now than when they were fighting, at least then she responded with 'real' emotion. "But I can't even blame her for this. I started it all."

"What? You are not going to blame yourself for her childish behavior," Robert protested, before retaking his seat.

"I was mad when we argued about Jimmy, and I was pushing toward breaking up. I told her some horrible things. It was almost as if I didn't have the heart to do it, so I wanted her to leave me, and she did." Tyler finally made eye contact with Robert briefly before continuing. "Then I took Lucas' dumb advice and treated her like a whore. She doesn't trust me."

"Tell me again, why did you take his advice?" Tyler shrugged. Tyler's phone rang, interrupting their conversation.

"Hello."

"Hey, it's me...Umm I gotta cancel on tonight. My mom has to work," Jacey's voice rang in his ear as another night of plans were cancelled.

"That's fine," he told her, trying not to seem bothered.

"I need to talk to you, Tyler," Susan demanded, entering Tyler's office without knocking.

"Hold on," he told Jacey before giving his attention to Susan.

"I need to talk to you now," she repeated. "Alone, so get off the phone."

"Can I call you back?" Tyler asked into the phone.

"Why? What is she doing in your office? Why are you doing what she says?" Jacey rambled.

"I have to go. I love you." Tyler hung up the phone and nodded for Robert to leave. "Okay, what's up?"

"Look, Tyler, I don't want any bad blood in the office. I'm sorry. My actions were completely out of line. This is a respectable law firm with respectable people. I just want us to talk, and hopefully you will find it in your heart to forgive and maybe become friends," Susan said calmly, smiling once she was done.

"There's nothing to forgive," Tyler told her bluntly, causing her smile to fade. "I'm not the type to hold grudges, Susan. I forgave you a long time ago. We can be friends, but I don't want you crossing that line with me again," he warned before getting up and walking to the door. "I've been slacking off today, so I do need to get some work done. Thank you for stopping by, though." Susan got up and walked to the door.
