Scarlett and George were on one of their walks around the grounds holding hands and chatting about their days and any gossip they heard.
"So Hermione has forgiven Ron for his meltdown at the Yule ball?" Scarlett asked
"Seems like it, I think she likes him."
"Well duh, they like each other but won't admit it."
"You think so?"
"Why do you think Ron had a go at her for being happy with Viktor?"
"Because he's Ron and he's a twerp."
Scarlett rolled her eyes "You of all people should know he likes her. How long did you pine after me? How can you not identify the signs of pining in your own brother?"
"Coming from the girl who didn't realise I was pining over her for years."
"That's different you never notice who's pining after you but you do notice when people around you are pining over someone. It's a well known fact."
"I really don't think it is." George responded
They got to the woods and to Scarletts amazement there was a romantic picnic set out on the ground with pumpkin juice, flowers and a variety of deserts.
"Oh my, George what is this?" Scarlett exclaimed
"Just a little something to take your mind off tomorrows task. Seeing as I can't spend the rest of the day with you because you're helping Cedric I thought I'd treat you." George said triumphantly getting the reaction he wanted from his surprise. Scarlett jumped into his arms and kissed him deeply
"You are the sweetest Georgie. I can't believe you went through all this trouble for me." She ran over to the picnic and made herself comfortable. George followed behind and offered her a plate of danish pastries, she took one and started eating excitedly with a big smile on her face which warmed his heart. He started to eat as well staring at her cute excited face. She had a way of going from the most adorable person on earth to being stunningly beautiful to him. He couldn't understand how she did it but he loved that about her. Her smile could light up the darkest room, the sparkle in her eyes when she got excited took his breath away every time. He was truly and fully in love with her and today he had built the courage thanks to Fred to finally tell her. That's why he'd organised this picnic. Fred had stolen the food from the kitchen while Angelina set up the picnic and flowers, it was the perfect background to declare his love for her.
"Letty, I have to admit there is another reason for this picnic."
Scarlett looked up at him and into his eyes curious about what he was going to say, her eyes wide and bright, all her attention on him causing him to have butterflies in his stomach.
"There is something I've been wanting to tell you since the ball. I've known it for a while now but haven't had the courage to tell you but now I do. Scarlett, I love you." He declared taking Scarletts breathe away. Her heart pounding in her chest, heat flushing up to her cheeks, unable to say anything. She was overwhelmed, completely taken a back.
"George." Is all she could muster. Her heart was pounding so hard she could hear it. A wave of fear washed over her at the words 'I love you', her mouth went dry. She began to panic, not because she didn't feel the same way but because the way his words made her feel terrified her to her core, she wasn't ready to face that emotion in her. She'd never felt like this before it made her feel extremely vulnerable how much she cared for George. He looked down at the ground feeling embarrassed at her silence, he began to feel like a fool.
"I-I really like you. I-I'm just not th-there yet. I-I li-like where we are r-right now." she mustered realising she needed to say something despite her panic. She took a few deep breathes to calm herself down and began to grab hold of herself "I care for you so much George I'm getting there I just need a bit more time." She reached to stroke his arm to reassure him but he pulled away
