Chapter 55

Scarlett was on the second floor of St Mungos helping a patient who had been attacked by a swarm of pixies. The patient wasn't too injured more shaken than anything. A few ointments on the scratches was enough to get her in tip top shape and thankfully Scarlett was a master at amplifying the effectiveness of ointments. She finished and escorted the patient to the lift with an interdepartmental memo flying above that would inform reception to discharge them. She turned around and made her way back to her other patients when all the lifts opened with multiple casualties coming out. Three senior healers were attending to the patients when they caught sight of Scarlett the head healer called her over "Miss Diggory, just the trainee I needed. You are assigned to this patient, you are instructed to stay with her at all times. If you need any potions, ointment or anything you send a memo for someone to get it for you. Do you understand?"

"Of course Sir. I will not leave this patients..." Scarlett gasped as she recognised the woman lying on the bed. It was the Head of Magical Law Enforcement, Amelia Bones. She was beaten up badly and had definitely suffered spell damage as well as a physical beating. Scarlett gulped in fear but quickly composed herself before continuing "...I will not leave her side. You can count on me Sir."

"No one apart from myself and you will be allowed in her room. All staff will be under strict orders not to provide anything to you unless you have specifically asked or it comes with my personal signature approving I have prescribed it. I will bring the food and drink to her and if you need a bathroom break you will call me. Check all items you are handed are correct and I will verify my identify using this phrase. You must reply with the phrase underneath."

He handed Scarlett a piece of paper, once she had read what was written on it, it burnt away.

"These are dangerous times Miss Diggory we must be vigilant especially with such a high ministry member's life in the balance." He continued as Scarlett nodded her response.

"Sir I believe we should start with her curse injuries to get her stable before we start healing the broken bones and physical injuries. Can I go get the potions while you are with the patient?"

"I conquer with your healing path, go. We will be in room 5. Come back as soon as possible and do not let anyone postpone your return especially when you have acquired what you need."

As Scarlett turned around she saw the 10 beds following the head healer. As she continued walking she was shocked to see more and more injured pouring through the lifts. Bianca, Elijah, Iris and Lance were all in the floor entrance helping those with minor injuries on the seats since there were not enough rooms for all the injured. Many of the new arrivals tried to pull her to help them with desperate pleads for aid and medicine when they saw her robes. She struggled to get away from them, having an inward battle at the fact she was under strict orders not to get distracted. She managed to get through to the potion and ointment storage room. Quickly she set about searching each cupboard to find what she needed. Her concentration to find what she needed was so intense she hadn't noticed Lance join her in the room.

"Scar...Oi Scar. What are you looking for?" He said making her jump when he laid his hand on her shoulder

"Shit...Lance you scared me."

"Sorry I didn't mean to. I was asking what you were looking for, maybe I can help."

"No need. I've got it." She pulled a potion bottle from the back of the line opened to smell it was correct then resealed it before moving to the next cupboard.

"I have no doubt about that Scar. Are you helping us with the minor injury patients?" He asked as he stocked up on general potions and ointments

"No I've been assigned to one of the major injury patients. Do you know what happened to these people?"
