George turned to Scarlett who was sat on the sofa, her legs fidgeting anxiously. He handed her a coffee then sat down next to her
"It's going to be okay little bird. He's going to be happy to see you again."
"What if he's angry I haven't seen him since my birthday? Or what if he's fallen back into the dark place?"
George pulled her into him to calm her "Breathe. I'll be there the whole time, if you need a bit of reassurance squeeze my hand."
"Are you sure you can come with? I would expect your mum would want you round as soon as possible."
"She won't mind, Fred will be there and he'll explain. I can't in good conscious leave you on your own when you're so nervous."
"I honestly don't know what I'd do without you, you know that."
"I know, you wouldn't have mind blowing sex and constant laughs in your life without me."
Scarlett laughed and felt her nerves dissipate. George always knew the right things to say to her to make her feel better.
"Shouldn't you two be off now? Mum may accept you not spending Christmas morning at home but she'll not be pleased if you're even a minute later than 12:30." Fred said walking into the living room while putting on his new Christmas jumper Mrs Weasley had sent over. The couple looked at the time, quickly finished their drinks and jumped into the fireplace to use the floo network.
They walked out of the fireplace into the living room of Scarlett's aunts house. Amos jumped up off the sofa he had been sitting on anxiously staring at the fireplace.
"My little Letty." He said as he pulled his little girl into a tight cuddle that Scarlett gladly reciprocated.
A few tears escaped her eyes from the overwhelming warmth of the cuddle, a warmth she hadn't felt from her family in a long time. When they pulled apart she wiped her fathers tears from his face before she wiped her own. Amos smiled at George offered his hand to shake that George gladly took.
"I will forever be grateful to you and your family for looking after not only my little girl but me as well. Knowing that you are there supporting her, helped me focus on healing myself. I couldn't ask for a better man for my Letty, thank you."
"I will do anything to support her, she is in safe hands Mr Diggory."
"No need for formalities son, call me Amos."
"If you two are over talking about me like I'm not here, can we have some breakfast? I'm starving, I've been up since 6am." Scarlett said as she walked further into the house to find her aunt.
"Oh by the way dad...." Scarlett said turning around "Merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas Letty." Amos said as he and George followed her.
--------
The couple said their goodbyes after a cosy light breakfast with Amos and his sister. Scarlett was glad to have spent a bit of the day with her father but a part of her was looking forward to going to the burrow. She felt the comfort of being with family but with that comfort came the longing for the past, to be with her twin and mother again.
George put his arm around Scarlett to comfort her. She was comforted by the gesture but a bit nervous that he was able to read her so well.
"I'm so glad you're back on your feet dad, I'll make sure to visit more." Scarlett said with her new found support from Georges arm.
"I'd love that. I'm here whenever you need Letty. And you young man..." Amos said turning to George "Thank you again. I'm so grateful my little girl has you. You are always welcome here."
