Cedric and Scarlett were sitting in his room chatting.
"So you and George are still going strong, I've seen at least 3 letters in the past week and he's popped round twice." Cedric smiled
"Don't get jealous cause my boyfriend lives 20 minutes away while your girlfriend lives hours away." she mocked
"I'm allowed to be jealous, you're off having fun with your boyfriend leaving me with mum and dad who spend the whole time asking me about you two and then about me and Cho."
"You did this to yourself by always telling them what is going on in our lives. Should have been like me and just let your twin fill them in on your life. Oh wait...I'm your twin and I dibsed that role, if only we had a third sibling." Scarlett teased making Cedric laugh.
"It's a pity we only have a few seconds left." Cedric said bringing the pleasant conversation to a close
"What do you mean a few seconds?" Scarlett asked confused
"Sorry Scar."
All the colour from his face drained away and he fell on her lap. She screamed as his cold heavy head landed on her legs and his glassed over eyes stared at her. The life drained from him. She cried desperately begging for her brother to come back.
"Scarlett! Wake up! Honey it's just a nightmare."
Scarlett opened her eyes to find her mother kneeling next to her bed wiping her daughters' tears before they fell onto her pillow
"Did I wake you up again?" Scarlett asked as she calmed herself down from her dream turned nightmare.
"No sweetie I was up already, this time you didn't scream so you're getting better." Her mum replied stoking her forehead. An act so simple but helped ease the panic and heartbreak that had become emotions they were both all too familiar with since Cedric passing.
"How come you came in if I didn't wake you?" Scarlett moved up in her bed to make space for her mum to lie next to her.
Her mother cuddled her tightly "I'll let you in on a little secret my little Letty, I have nightmares too. I always have, since I lost your aunt and uncle and grandparents. Whenever I woke up from those nightmares, I always came to see you and Ced in your rooms."
"These nightmares will never go away?" Scarlett couldn't hide the dread and hopelessness she felt with this knowledge but at the same time she wasn't surprised. It still felt like a part of her was missing. There was no joy left to be had as far as she was concerned, without Cedric how could she enjoy school holidays, Christmas, free periods or quidditch. Nothing would feel the same because the most important person, her partner in crime, her best friend, her rock was no longer by her side to share those moments. Without him there, how could she be happy.
"I hate that I can't give you a better answer, but unfortunately if you're anything like me, which I know you are, they'll never go. I spent a month waking up screaming from my nightmares just like you, but I can tell you it gets better. Especially when you have good friends around you and that boyfriend of yours always coming round and checking up on you is good too."
"Yeah Georgie is a good egg, Ced liked him too, he thought he was good for me."
"Ced was always a good judge of character. He had an instinct for these things you know, he got that from..."
The two were interrupted by a thud and some swearing as Mr Diggory got home from the pub he now spent most of his nights at. He wasn't coping well with the loss and had only been getting worse the past month. Mrs Diggory started to get up to help her husband when Scarlett held on to her tighter
