Scarlett walked into the little kitchen of the third floor in St Mungos to make herself a cup of tea while she got a break between patients.
"Hey Little Miss Special, mind making me a cuppa too?" Lance said as he walked in
"For the millionth time, stop calling me that or I won't make you a 'cuppa'" Scarlett replied as she rolled her eyes
"I'm trying to pick up the British lingo, to assimilate."
"Do it without using that stupid name, it's Scar or Scarlett. Pick one and stick to it."
"Fine, fine. So how have your rounds been today?"
"Nightmare, I've got two patients who can't stop regurgitating. One gold, the other flies and another who's uncontrollable laughter makes them constantly grab me. At least I hope it's the laughter that's making them do it."
"Eww my patients aren't so bad, they've all got varying levels of rashes but I guess since you're the star of the group you get the harder cases."
"What are you on about?"
"Mr Fontaine always assigns you to the healers with the most interesting cases after you aced that test last week. Not that any healers round here were surprised since your..." Lance caught himself before he started talking about Scarlett's mother
"Since my mum was Head Healer. No need to tread on egg shells about it. Here's your cuppa. Have you seen any of the others today?"
"No but Mr Fontaine did mention Elijah was on the forth floor. I'm sort of dreading my turn there I've heard a lot of horror stories."
"It's more sad than horrific."
"Oh yeah, I forgot you had your first month working on that floor."
"Yeah, the long-term resident ward breaks my heart. Especially when their family members come to visit. One of Georges brothers friends was visiting his parents up there with his grandma, it was just so sad. Makes you realise there are a lot of things worse than death, especially these days."
"Did you know the guy?"
"A bit, I wouldn't say we were friends but we knew each other. He didn't seem that happy to see me when I walked in, I don't think many people know."
"That is sad. Now I'm dreading my month placement there even more."
"It's only for a month and the experience is good and if you get to see someone improve it's amazing. My mum helped heal a guy back to full health that no one thought was going to recover after he had been hit with the Cruciatus curse five times. She was in an amazing mood for two months after that."
"Your mum sounds awesome."
"She was, I hope to be a fraction as good as she was."
"You keep going the way you are Miss Diggory and you'll uphold your families legacy." Mrs Cline, the healer Scarlett was assigned to said as she walked up to the pair.
"Family legacy?" Lance asked curiously
"Mr Geller do I need to get Mr Fontaine to review your Magical History?"
Scarlett felt uncomfortable at the mention of her mothers family history
"I don't remember the mention of the Diggory family linked to St Mungos."
"Ah of course not. It's Miss Diggorys mother's family. Her maiden name was Keystone."
"No way!" Lance said shocked at the new information but Scarlett just looked around making sure no one had turned in their direction.
