"I can't believe how much Umbridge is changing Hogwarts." Bianca complained to the group who groaned in agreement.
"I haven't been able to even flirt with a girl since she became high inquisitor." Andrew replied
"At least some good has come out of it." Scarlett joked
The group laughed as Andrew pouted
"I'm just kidding Andy, it's a major loss for womankind that you aren't able to charm them into a snog." Scarlett continued mockingly
"If only the rule applied to me and you Scar, then I'd be fine with it. Wouldn't have to deal with the constant mocking." Andrew said pretending to be upset by her comments
"It's like the opposite with you two though, she even changed Andrews timetable so he had defence against the dark arts with us. Then that stupid seating plan, it's like she's pushing you two together." Bianca said realising what was going on
"I've noticed that too actually. Whenever Umbridge sees Scar with the Weasley twins or Harry she immediately finds a way to distance you from them but whenever you're with Andrew even if you are 'inappropriately close to each other' you're all good." Heidi added
Scarlett thought about it then looked at Andrew who was also thinking
"You know what Scar, they are right. Remember when we were watching Fred and George show off one of their new products and she came and stopped it. As you went over to George, she then asked us to follow her and help her move her desk in her office to a different spot but we just chatted and she didn't tell us off, instead when she cam back she looked smug." Andrew stated
"You know what, she has been talking about you a lot in our meetings. Saying how well your family are regarded in the wizarding community and how reliable and studious you are." Scarlett said putting all the pieces together.
"Umbridge is trying to match make you two and break you and George up." Heidi and Bianca said in unison half laughing.
Scarlett and Andrew looked at each other trying to figure out a way of telling the other they would never go there without sounding offensive. Scarlett made the first move "I'm in love with George. I love you as a friend but that's all."
"I'm in love with the fact you love me as a friend." Andrew replied breathing a sigh of relief "Wait, she's been doing this for weeks now, but we've only realised now. George probably realised what was happening ages ago." He continued concerned
"Merlins beard! How could I be so stupid, I've been telling him about how Umbridge always talks about you as well. Eurgh, everything makes sense now. He's been acting weird whenever I talk about you and he always tries to get my attention in our classes, even though he's on the opposite side of the class." Scarlett stood up irritated at herself for not realising. She had been too consumed with trying to support Harry and keeping herself together to notice the pain George was going through. She felt terrible, knowing how George had supported and looked after her after Cedric and how he hadn't made a single complaint about the lack of time they had spent together the past few weeks. She had to go see him and apologise for being such a bad girlfriend.
Before the group could ask her what she was doing she was off out of the common room and running to find George. She got to the Gryffindor common room and waited for someone to come out or go in so they could find George for her, thankfully she didn't have to wait long as Angelina approached "Hey Scar, you waiting for George?" she said happy to see her friend
"I'm looking for him, can you check your common room for me please?" Scarlett asked
"Of course, why don't you just come with me, no one in Gryffindor is going to mind."
