Chapter 34

Scarlett couldn't stop fidgeting as she sat in the carriage with her friends heading back to London. She was desperate to see George and make sure he was alright, she needed be with him.

"I need you to stop bouncing your leg, you're making the whole seat shake. I'm starting to feel sick." Andrew pleaded as he held Scarletts leg down

"Why is the train going so slow?" she responded impatiently

"How about we talk about something else to distract you Scar?" Bianca suggested seeing the tension growing knowing full well if she let them continue they would begin to argue. Thankfully Angelina popped her head into their compartment

"Hey guys, mind if me and Katie crash in your compartment there are no other empty ones."

"Come on in Angie. You're saving me from having to deal with another bickering session from these two." Bianca replied shuffling up to make room for the two girls.

Andrew moved his hand off Scarletts leg as the girls sat down and they moved away from each other, leaving a bigger gap between them.

"So how does this work?" Katie couldn't help but ask the curiosity getting the better of her

"What do you mean?" Scarlett felt her anxiousness turn to defensiveness

"Sorry, that came out more judgemental than I expected. I was just curious since you and George are always together during the DA meetings but nowhere else." Katie tried to explain as she watched Scarletts body language visibly tense up. Angelina, Bianca and Andrew all looked at each other not knowing what to do but before they were able to intervene, Scarlett took a deep breathe.

"I'm with George, he's my boyfriend but with Umbridge on my back and her taking control of the school he thought it would be better to keep our relationship hidden. This thing with Andrew is just a cover so she doesn't try and set me up with anyone else."

"That sounds like George. He's a good guy, once you get past the pranks."

"Oh yeah, I forgot you were in a relationship with George in 5th year." Angelina joined in

"Not surprised, we weren't together long, just 5 months. He was my first and he'll always have a special place in my heart."

Scarlett felt her mouth go dry and a pit form in her stomach at the new information she had just learnt. She knew George had dated, she'd heard the rumours about the Weasley twins and she'd been okay with that, it's not like she hadn't dated but she had never been in a proper relationship with anyone and she had just assumed George hadn't either. She felt a little stupid for thinking she was Georges first relationship but also embarrassed at the fact she didn't know about Katie. Then the words 'my first' sunk in and repeated over and over in her head. She could feel her mind spiralling, how many people had George slept with? Who had been his first? Was he amused at the fact she had made such a big deal about it? Had he been with her this long just to get in her pants? Was she as good looking as the other girls he'd been with? Her heart was pounding so hard she thought it was going to jump out of her chest, the excitement she had felt about seeing him again turning to dread. She wanted to go back to Hogwarts.

"Scar? You okay?" Andrew whispered as he scooted over recognising the look of composed panic that only the closest of her friends could recognise. Bianca noticed it too but knew the best way to deal with this was to distract Angelina and Katie.

"Why don't we get some snacks from the trolley, it's going to be a long trip and we need a proper catch up before we separate for the holidays. Why don't you girls come with me? I know the preference of these two but probably best you pick out what you like, my treat." The girls got up and followed Bianca out of the compartment, unaware of the chaos they had unleashed inside Scarlett's head.
