Travis's POVToday was the Super Bowl. My last NFL game. I had decided that no matter what the outcome of the game today was, I wasn't coming back for another season. It was way too hard on my body. This season got too much near the end on my old body.
Taylor was coming out to watch the game, since she ended the tour she has been able to come to all of my games, away and home. I'm so grateful for her, that's why I'm planning on proposing if we win.
It's still early morning and the whole team was forced to sleep in a hotel just outside New Orleans. I had rented out a house about 20 minutes away from the stadium. That's where my whole family had been staying until last night where they went to hotels to be closer to the stadium, leaving only Taylor. I woke up at 5:30 am and was packed and set off to be driving to Tay by 6.
I pull into the driveway of the house and it's still pretty dark out. I unlock the door and get inside. I kick off my slides and set my bag down. The house is still dark and quiet so I assume that Taylor is still asleep— as she should be at this hour.
I sneak up the stairs and around the corner into the master bedroom. Creak the door open and see Taylor laying on her back with her phone in her hands.
But when I open the door all the way and walk in. She looks up and a big smile immediately washes over her face. "Hey what are you doing here. I thought you had to be at the hotel." She says while reaching her arms out to me. I crawl on the bed and cuddle into her.
"Well it's morning so now we have free will until I have to be at the stadium." I flick my eyes down from her eyes to her perfect lips and let my eyes drift from different points of her face to others while she talked about the plan for today. She's too perfect, it's crazy sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky to get her.
"Travis. Are you listening? Are you okay?" She says putting her hand on my cheek. I lean up and leave a kiss on her lips.
"Yeah I am. Why?" I say with a big stupid smile.
"Well you're looking at me funny." She says while slightly rolling her eyes. "Well that's cause you're so pretty and I can't focus on anything else when I can see you." I blab.
"Oh shut it." She says and turns away from me. I chuckle and turn over as well, cuddling into her from behind, draping my hands over her waist and slipping one of my legs between hers, using my foot to pull her closer than before.
She continues talking and I actually listen this time. We both decide to get up and start the day. Taylor got into the shower while I sat in the bathroom and kept her company.
As I waited for Taylor to finish her shower, I fiddled with the ring box in my pocket, zoning out as I leaned against the counter. Thinking about how Taylor might react or what she'd say.
I know it's very risky to propose in front of a crowd, but I wouldn't do it if I wasn't one hundred percent sure she was going to say yes.
But even though I know she'll let me be her husband, I'm still absolutely petrified to do it. All the sudden I'm pulled out of my thoughts by a familiar angelic voice.
"Love?" Taylor calls out, peaking her head out of the steamy glass shower door. I look up at her and she smiles, her wet curls sticking to her face a bit.
"Can you grab me a towel please?" She smiles. I nod and push myself away from the counter, going over and grabbing a towel then handing it to her.
"One more, for my hair?" She says as she opens the shower door open all the way to dry herself, leaving me a clear view of her naked body.
