Borrowed time; Mattheo Riddle

Chapter 38

Mattheos pov

I woke up stretching my arm out to find a cold an empty spot beside me. I instantly awoke looking around the room and then walking in to the bathroom, but nothing, she wasn't here. I got dressed to look for her but came to a stop when I found the boys all gathered in the common room. 

"Hey, you guys seen my girl?" I asked interrupting their conversations. 

"Nope, but I'm guessing she's with mine" Draco responded. He was leaning comfortably on the couch, his arm resting on the back of it. "She left earlier saying Daphne was gonna show them something and that they be back later" 

"Awww, was someone a bit sad when they woke up alone" Theo said with a mocking voice. 

"At least I have someone to wake up next to" I took a seat next to Enzo on the couch. "Still to chicken to fuck blondie huh?" 

He narrowed his eyes at me thinking of a good response but Blaise cut him off, "Come on man, don't be so mean to him. It's the first time he actually likes someone". Theo seemed to relax a bit as Blaise stood up for him, but that didn't last. "Let him enjoy it before she fucks him an realizes her vibrator is more effective". 

His face dropped before a deathly glare was sent towards our dark skinned friend. Seconds later they both were on the floor wrestling. 

It took a while for the girls to return but when they did I noticed one was missing. 

"You ladies finally decided to grace us with your presence?" Enzo charmingly said, while they took their seats among us. My eyes were still on the door waiting for her to enter, but she never did. 

"Where's Bella?" I asked them more harshly  than I meant too. 

"I don't know, she never showed up" Daphne said looking at Pansy a bit confused. "Yeah we figured she was in bed with you like last time she disappeared" Pansy continued. 

"Well she isn't, so were the fuck is she?" 

"I.. I don't know" Pansy whined, which pissed me off even more. It's been 2 hours sense I woke up alone and whatever she was doing she should be back from by now. 

"Where were you meeting?" 

"The shore by the black lake" Daphne said and I didn't waste a second before heading out the doors. 

I could hear the others following behind me as I walked out the school and began heading for the lake. "Mattheo, we already walked this way when we headed back. If she was here we would have seen her" Pansy shouted from behind me as she struggled to keep up. 

I ignored her as I kept close attention to the surroundings looking for anything that seems suspicious or out of the ordinary. I came to an abrupt halt as an eerie feeling crept up my body. What looked like half a footprint was shown in the mud leading in to the woods. Don't fucking tell me she decided to take a fucking shortcut through the forbidden forest. 

Without hesitation I headed in to the forest. I heard the others talking as I went deeper and eventually I recognized at lest 2 set of footsteps following me. With a quick look behind me I saw Enzo and Blaise had followed, the other two staying with their girls.

The trees thinned as the sun from the other end of the forest began to shine trough and just as I was starting to think she wasn't here my heart dropped. 

Bellas pov

My eyes felt heavy and my mouth dry. The lights were to bright as I tried to open my eyes and when they finally adjusted they meet the depth of his brown ones. He was standing over me, a concerned jet relived look on his face. I realized he was holding my hand as it was warmer than my other but when I tried to speak the only thing that left my mouth was a dry cough. 

He handed me a cup of water and helped me raise the bed so that I was more in a sitting position. I was in the hospital wing, it seemed to be completely empty except for me and Mattheo. 

After another sip of water I finally managed to speak, "I'm sorry".

Mattheo looked at me even more confused than he was before and cupped my cheeks wiping away the tears that were starting to spill. "Hey, look at me. You have nothing to be sorry for, alright?" 

I nodded silently but neither of us believed it as he crawled in to the bed with me pulling me in to his chest. "You're alright baby, I got you" 

I must have dosed off after that because when I woke up again Mattheo was fast asleep in the chair next to the bed and all the lights were off in the hospital wing. My head was pounding and my body felt weak but other than that I felt fine. 

I tried to get up and off the bed, my body was stiff and I desperately needed to move around a bit. The gown I was in stopped above my knees and I had big bruises on them from when I fell. I took the blanket that was on the bed and wrapped it around myself as I felt to exposed in just the gown. I moved silently along the rows of empty beds stopping by a window to look out over the dark grounds. 

A sound came from behind me making me jump and turn around to see Mattheo standing only inches behind me. "You should be in bed" he said. It was dark but the moon provided just enough light for me to just how tired he looked. 

"I'm fine, I just wanted to stretch my legs a little" 

A rough laugh escaped his lips before he spoke, "Fine? Yeah sure, that's why you laid passed out in the woods for 3 hours and then proceeded to almost fall in to a coma? Cause you're so freaking fine!". His words were harsh but true. I wasn't fine and it was time I told him the truth, but how? 

"How long has I been out?" He scoffed as I changed the subject but answered none the less, "3 days". 

Shit, that's the longest I have been out so far. "I need to see Severus" I spoke more to myself than him but he still answered. "It's 3am, he's asleep, and so should you be. You need to rest" 

"I have been out for 3 days... I think I've rested enough" I spoke back a bit snappier than I had intended to. His jaw tensed and his gaze turned darker. "Is this a joke to you?" 

"What?" 

"Is this a fucking joke to you?" he stepped closer making me back in to the wall. "Cause if sure as fuck seems like it! This is the second time I have found you passed the fuck out, I'm not fucking stupid Bella? And the headache potions, you would think for someone who lies so much you would be a lot better at it" he was frustrated, speaking everything he had been holding back. "Do you know how hard it is when the person you love continually lies to your fucking face?"

He continued speaking but I no longer heard what he was saying, my mind stuck on that word. "You.. You love me?" I cut him off. 

"Ofcourse I do? You're my entire fucking world Bella. Nothing as ever truly mattered in my life until you" he was still frustrated as he spoke and I could hear the adrenaline still in his system from his rant before. 

"I love you too Mattheo" I bearly had time to register the pure happiness that shone in his eyes before I felt his lips on mine. I happily answered it wrapping my arms around his neck to pull him closer. Our mouths were greedy as we took out both out anger and love trough it. 

He pulled back resting his forehead on mine while be both caught our breath. "I'm sorry for yelling, I'm just.." I cut him off again. "Don't" I said grabbing his cheek. "You have every right to be mad at me and I'm sorry for lying to you. I promise to tell you everything tomorrow after I have spoken to Severus" 

A tear escaped my eye as I realized how much I had hurt him, I was so selfish. Instead of answering he placed his lips back on mine, this time softer and more passionate. He picked me up as I wrapped my legs around his waist allowing him to carry me back to bed.
