Daisy
The last couple of days have passed in a blur. I finished the prom dress for Jeannie, she was over the moon with it. It was lovely to see her so happy and I am sure that when James, her prom date comes to pick her up, he is going to fall in love with her all over again.
The bridesmaid dresses for Sage's wedding are coming along nicely and I just have a couple of alterations to do for Lottie who has lost a bit of weight, she needs to be careful there it's not as if she has got any to lose, but she has just started running and Pilates again and things are changing with her body. She looks amazing regardless, that girl could wear a sack I swear and still look hot.
It's nine in the morning on Saturday and I'm about to head over for ten to meet Maxine and go off to the horse auction. I've never been to one before so I have absolutely no idea what to expect. Other than of course, a whole lot of horses. I love horses and sometimes have been out riding with Deacon on his land. Usually, he lets me ride his Appaloosa, Mitzi who is around four years of age and as docile as a butterfly. She is a dream to ride and having ridden since I was a kid starting at the Buckner's school for riding on their farm, I know at least how to handle a horse.
I am excited to go to the auction and maybe I may find a horse that needs a loving home. Oh, wait one. I've kind of fallen out with Deacon that puts the brakes on a bit. Only, I would ask him if I could keep it at his place, he has more than enough land and stables. I bite my lower lip as Bonnie rubs her head on my shins. I bend down and tickle the top of her head. Right, I guess I need to make up with him if I am considering buying a horse. I'd love to have one of my very own but I have absolutely nowhere to put it. Unless I ask Logan and Sage.
Yes, that can work. They have plenty of space and a stable block for four horses, I remember Logan telling me he and Sage wanted to buy each other horses as wedding gifts. I wonder if he and she are coming along today. I grab my mobile off the counter and shoot him a quick message.
Are you coming to the horse auction today it's in Bottom Creek.
I don't have to wait too long before I receive a reply.
Not today, Sage and I are going to Yellow Creek in a week's time for the horse auction. Why?
I am going with Maxine and thought you'd be going along to since Bottom Creek since it's not too far away.
Can't today. I've got the fellas coming over to help me build the stage for the band and the pillars for the walk from the cabin to where the stage will be.
Ah, right. Okay. Wait, pillars?
Yes, pillars. Don't ask. Sage has decided that she wants pillars evenly spaced along the walk from the cabin to the stage where we will be married, she wants to have flowers draped off them and fairy lights so at night it'll look pretty.
Aw, that sounds amazing. She's got such vision.
Yeah, and of course I'd do anything for Sage.
You're a good man to her, Logan. She's going to have the best day ever.
I hope so, that's the plan.
Okay, I'll catch up with you later. Excited to go to the cabin next weekend with y'all. Oh yeah, so I was going to ask, I totally forgot with wedding talk and all, if I see a horse I like can I keep it at your place?
Of course you can, we've got plenty of space and Sage will love tending to it when you're not around.
Thank you soooooo much.
Catch you later, Daisy. He signs off and leaves me some kisses. I am now over excited like a five year old being told they're going to Disneyland. I clap my hands and pick Bonnie up, hugging her to me and smother her head in kisses. She wriggles to get down. I laugh and put her back down on the floor where she scampers off. No doubt to hide from me.
I check the time, it's already nine thirty, shoot. I better get dressed out of my pajamas and into some clothes fit for a horse auction. It's chilly now fall is here although there is some sunshine but marred with a few grey clouds here and there.
From my closet I pull out some trusty old Levi's, my blue cowboy boots and a vest top. I move to my drawers and find a pink t-shirt to pull over before grabbing my navy cable knit cardigan off the back of my door. Throwing my satchel over my shoulder I consider myself ready to go meet Maxine at Bluebells.
As I walk, since it's only down on Main Street and about a fifteen minute walk, I whistle and hum random tunes. Most of them made up. Seriously, I am that girl who knows all the tunes to numerous tracks but cannot remember the lyrics. It doesn't matter to me, I'm happy in any case.
As I enter Bluebell's the door chimes, I inhale the smell of pancakes, waffles, bacon and coffee. It makes my stomach growl, I knew I should have eaten breakfast this morning.
"Over here." I turn to the voice and see Maxine in the corner by the far window. I squint my eyes then narrow them further, what the hell is Deacon doing here? Okay, I need to chill out a bit, it's a diner, he has every right to be here. I can cope with that. Honestly, though I ought to forgive him for being an ass the other day and launching me over his shoulder but then he started on Saunder again in the street. So, maybe not. I am still mad at him.
"Hey Maxine." I say ignoring Deacon whose lips are upturned in that smirk he has going on.
"You made it. Fantastic. Do you need to eat before we head off only I'd like to get a good spot?" She says, full of enthusiasm. I ignore my stomach pleading me to feed it, after all I can get something at the auction and I've had two coffees already.
"I'm good. Ready to go when you are. By the way, I'm looking out for a horse for myself." Deacon raises his eyebrows.
"Where are you going to keep it?" He asks, playing idly with a napkin.
"At Logan's. I would ask you because your slightly closer, but I'm pissed off with you right now." He grins.
"And what sort of horse are you going to buy?" For goodness sake, what is it to him? Why doesn't he just leave already? Oh, I forgot, Maxine and I are leaving.
"I'll know when I see it. Come on Maxine, let's go." She chuckles, grabs her purse and comes round the table just as Deacon stands and puts some notes on it.
"I thought we could all go in my truck." He says. That stops me in my tracks.
"What? I thought it was just Maxine and I going?" He grins. I want to slap him now.
"Sorry, Daisy. Maxine invited me to come look at some horses for my stables." Right, okay, yeah, so they are his stables and he should have a vested interest in what sort of horses he will have but honestly, I could do withouth being close to him. Just as I huff, the door opens and in comes Saunder.
He takes one look at me and gives me a wide grin and tips his hat. "Good morning, Daisy."
"Morning, Saunder. How you doing?"
"I'm all the better for seeing your mighty pretty, fine face this morning. You're like a ray of sunshine on this almost overcast day." He is still grinning.
"Let's go." Deacon says gruffly and nudges me forward.
"Why thank you, Saunder. That's so kind of you to say."
"I said let's go."
"What has gotten into you?" I snap at Deacon.
"Me? Oh, nothing. We've got an auction to get to, there's no time for shooting the breeze with the likes of him." Deacon jerks his thumb in Saunder's direction.
"Well, I happen to like him. So there." Yes, I know I'm acting like a child but he is driving me too it, I swear.
"I'll catch up with you later, Saunder." I say as I move it along to the door and hear Deacon mutter.
"Over my dead body." I humph, yes well, we'll see about that won't we.
