Daisy
It's the hen-stag party weekend and I am nervous because I am going to have to face Deacon and spend two whole days with him being in close proximity. I don't think my pussy or my heart can take it. I mean the last time I was so close to him, I was itching to strip his shirt off and feel his pecs under my fingers. Heat rushes to my face.
Bonnie knows something is up since her small cat basket is out, she probably thinks she has to go on a vet visit hence why she is staring at me sitting on the sofa with a glare to her eyes. "Okay baby, mommy isn't taking you to the vet. We're going to a cabin up in the mountains. You'll love it." She still glares at me even though I am using my most soothing voice. My phone rings, I know it's Lottie when I hear the Man I Feel Like A Woman coming from it, it's Lottie's favorite track and she is nuts for Shania Twain. Who isn't?
"Hey Girl." She drawls into the phone.
"Hey yourself."
"You looking forward to being up close with Deacon this weekend?" She laughs, I do not find it amusing. Especially not with a whole bunch of our friends being around. I am pretty convinced that Logan caught us being so close because the last few days he keeps dropping hints. First off he told me that there was nothing wrong with a relationship where there was a ten year age gap. That one made my jaw drop to the ground, then he winked and went about his day. Luckily, at the fundraiser meeting over breakfast at Bluebell's, Deacon had not arrived. Sage gave Logan a punch in the arm and told him to leave it alone. Still, my face flushed bright red.
"There will be enough of us for me to avoid him. Honestly, I can't control myself near to him so I think it's best I stay away from him. I will hang with you and Sadie most of the time. Besides, we have different things going on from Logan and the guys, right?"
"Of course we do but there are some mixed activities."
"Remind me, I've been so engrossed in the last minute touch ups to the dresses and getting my stall ready for the fundraiser that I haven't looked over the agenda properly."
Lottie sniggers. "Are you laughing? What in heaven's name is so damn funny, Lottie?"
"There is a treasure hunt and you are paired up with Deacon." She is almost in hysterics.
"Deacon? Why Deacon. Why not you? Who set this up?"
"I expect Logan and Sage. Maybe you two just need a bit of an extra nudge."
"You can't nudge someone who is stubborn as a mule and we all know he is a mule."
"Ah, but a cute one. I mean, his ass is like you want to bite it."
"Lottie." I say with warning before she goes any further. "Anyway are you bringing, what's his name." Sometimes it is hard to keep up with Lottie and she changes her guys like most of us change our panties. She is an out and out fun girl, not one who wants to be tied down. Not yet anyway.
"Nah, coming on my own. That way if I see someone in the next cabin I won't feel like I can only look and not touch." She chuckles.
"You are incorrigible, Lottie. Shame on you."
"Tell me you don't want to touch Deacon and feel how strong his..." I cut her off right there.
"Do not utter another word." I tell her and scoop Bonnie up and place her in the carrier. She's a good kitty and doesn't scratch, she's used to the carrier, I take her most places with me that I can. To be honest, Bonnie and I have never been apart except when I run errands or go to work and have Logan's dog, Hector with me.
"Biceps, I was going to say. Damn, Girl where is your mind today?"
I humph, "are you nearly ready we can swing by in fifteen minutes, just need to load Bonnie and my weekend bag into the car."
"I am ready as I'll ever be. By the way, did you see the new fireman in town?"
"What, no of course not. I've been busy. Who, is he handsome?"
"You bet he is, tall, dark, swoony something out of an Elsie Silver book. I'm definitely going to get me some of that." She howls with laughter and I have to admit I cannot contain myself either. Lottie is a scream.
"Bonnie and I will see you in a few minutes, Lottie and go change your panties after drooling over the latest male addition to Willowbrook." Laughing we both hang up, I shake my head and grab my weekend bag, make sure I have unplugged everything in the kitchen and lounge and head out.
I have butterflies swarming in my stomach just at the thought of seeing Deacon again. He never made it to the fundraising breakfast meeting, something came up at the station, adolescents from Coppertown and graffiti I think it was. I've kept long hours adjusting the bridesmaid dresses and am finally done and ready. Let's hope none of us drastically lose weight or gain a few pounds because these dresses with their fitted bodices are literally made to measure.
I place Bonnie's carrier on the back seat and strap her in with the seatbelt running through it, fling my bag in the boot and seat myself driver's side and pull off my drive.
Lottie is already standing outside her place waving as she sees me driving up. I wonder who dressed her today, usually very stylish she is wearing a garish pink ensemble. A puffer coat with white fur trimmed hood, pink matching puffer type boots, pale pink jeans tucked in and Lord only knows if she is wearing pink underneath.
"Are you going all Barbie on me?" I try to hide my smile.
"I happen to know that Fireman Boy likes a bit of pink." She licks her pouty lips.
"He's hardly likely to see you here outside your front door, Lottie. Honestly, get in the car. Please tell me you are not wearing pink underneath."
"I am. Actually, he is going to be at the cabin."
My head does a ninety degree swivel, "run that by me again."
"I said he will be at the cabin. Turns out he is an old friend of Logan's. His wife passed away three years ago and he has a young girl, Logan invited him said it'd be good for him."
I let out a breath. "You are not going to try to come on to him are you, Lottie. Please tell me you won't. And how do you know this? What happened to seeing someone at the other cabins?"
"Well, if you kept up with the local gossip at Bluebell's like I do and overhear your brother talking to Sage and asking her if he should invite his friend, then you'd know a helluva lot more."
I roll my eyes. "Some of us, Lottie do not live in Bluebell's diner." It's now her turn to roll her eyes at me.
"Is Deacon bringing anyone?" I ask trying to pretend I don't care whether or not he is. She lets out a rip roaring laugh.
"Oh, Girl. You are so predictable. I knew it." She slaps her thigh with exaggeration. "I just knew you were going to ask. Damn, I wish I'd run bets on it with Sadie, Sage and Eliza." That makes me stick my tongue out at her.
"Nope." She pops the P. "He isn't bringing anyone. He's all yours girl. Don't waste it."
I try to ignore Lottie making fun and keep my eyes focused on the road to Logan and Sage's cabin. We're all meeting there then transferring to his and Deacon's trucks for the trek up to the mountains to the Shoehorse resort and cabins.
Secretly, I am pleased to hear that Deacon isn't brining anyone, it makes my stomach flutter and brings a sense of joy to my heart. I have brought some new lingerie with me, you know just in case.
