Daisy
"Oh My God, it's stunning, damn Girl you are going to get married. It's unreal and to the man of your dreams. Someone pass me the tissues." Lottie screams out when she sees the ring on my finger and Deacon sitting next to me in Lazy Duke's with his arm draped behind my back, along the top of the chair. Sage laughs at her exuberance, Lottie is known for being totally and utterly over the top. But I love her anyways.
"I want to be chief bridesmaid," she declares fanning herself. Ryle sits next to her and smiles then rolls his eyes, yep in a short space of time he sure has got the measure of my beautiful bestie and her dramatic ways.
"Of course you'll be chief bridesmaid, and Sage will be my second. Mom is over the moon and can't contain herself. We stopped by before coming to meet you all," I tell her. Lottie leans over and gives me a huge hug, I can spot little tears at the corner of her eyes.
"Look at us, all grown up and now you're going off to be married and Sage here, our ex-babysitter is getting married tomorrow. I can't believe it."
"Me neither, hell where did all that time go, from when we'd sit on the school bench in recess and chat about books, the boys and our favorite teachers?"
"I have no idea but oh my gosh, I'm so overjoyed for you. And you," she points at Deacon, "it's about time, what on earth took you so long? This girl has been waiting since she was at least fifteen. Honestly, some days I could have stuck a rocket up your ass, talk about slow at going forward, Marshal Deacon." To which he grins and places a kiss on my cheek. Logan isn't with us tonight, according to Sage it's because it's bad luck to see the bride the night before the wedding, even though they've been under the same roof for months now.
Still, he likes his traditions and so does, Sage and of course my mother kept banging on about how it's tradition and he should honor that. Deacon and Ryle decide to head up to the bar and grab us some drinks. "I'll only have one glass of white, please. I want a clear head for my wedding day," Sage tells them. Deacon nods. Ryle claps Deacon on the back, no doubt they're going to have some man talk and stuff.
"When do you plan on getting married?" Lottie asks. Sage grins.
"Give her a chance, he's only just proposed today."
"Well, I know already she'll want a spring wedding, it's her favorite season."
"I'm not sure, I definitely don't want to get married in the summer, it's way too hot and the thought of being in a long wedding gown in the height of it all just doesn't appeal to me. So, probably spring or maybe fall next year. That way we've got a year to plan and by then Sage here may be expecting a little baby."
Sage raises her eyebrows. "I think Logan and I want to wait a while before that happens. You know he's expanding the practice, right? We need to take on additional staff you know he wants a couple more doctors in and an extra nurse to help Sadie. Eliza isn't getting any younger and wants to drop her hours, that means we need an extra pair of hands for the front desk and everything she does for us. Honestly, babies aren't on the agenda just yet."
"You can do both, besides, if Logan is getting extra doctors in, don't you think it's because he wants to make sure you can have as many babies as possible and he'll be covered at the practice?"
Sage cocks her head. "Ah, so he's being devious is he, intending to knock me up as soon as possible?" she chuckles, "I like that idea, could you imagine little Logan's running around?" She looks wistful with a beautiful smile on her face.
"God help us if they turn out like Logan," I tease her. "Just joking, I can't wait to be an aunty and Deacon will make the best uncle."
Speaking of Deacon, he and Ryle turn up with two trays of drinks and a couple of beers each for themselves. "Here's to the bride to be." Deacon says. We raise our glasses to Sage.
"And to the soon to be Mrs. Deacon." She comes back with. We all clink glasses and turn our heads when we hear an almighty roar coming from Abe behind the bar.
"OUT. NOW." We all raise our eyebrows and turn to the door to see the most stunning woman I personally have ever seen. She's got a full, thick mane of long blonde, unruly hair, tan skin, ink up and down her arms to where her T-shirt sleeves end. A leather jacket is slung over one shoulder, she stands with her hands on her hips.
"Aw, Man don't start that bullshit with me again."
"I asked you not to come here again after you caused my locals to fight with each other." Abe says as he glowers at her, his cheeks slightly flushed. I cock my head because since when does Abe ever blush? And he's licking his bottom lip. Hold on a second what is going on with Abe?
"It ain't my fault them backass locals of yours wanna fight over a pretty little thing like me now then is it?" She moves closer to the bar, all eyes on this woman who has got the longest, jean clad legs I've ever seen, narrow hips, a tiny waist and a modest chest. But it's the wild hair I'm loving that spills down her back, it's all blonde waves and looks like a waterfall. Her eyes, I can't quite make out because her back is now to me as she takes a seat at the bar. We're all still gawping at her.
"Now, I'll have a bottle of Bud and a tequila shot, thanks Bear." She tells Abe whose jaw drops to the bar.
"My name ain't Bear. Don't call me that." He growls at her.
"Will you stop glowering at me and just get me my drinks already."
"Oh, hell, looks like Abe's got some trouble on his hands." Deacon says and pulls me in for a kiss, his lips are soft and warm.
"Seems to me he's got a bit of fire come on in from outside and I reckon she's about to rock his world." Sage offers. You know, she might just be right. I for one can't wait to see how this pans out.
We go back to chatting about the wedding tomorrow, Lottie takes another few looks at my ring and places her hand on her heart. "You are so lucky, Daisy. I'm really happy for you. I can't wait for your wedding."
Deacon grins, he looks like the proudest man alive. "Me neither." We stay for an hour then make our way home, tomorrow is going to be a long, but beautiful day. My brother is finally getting married to the woman he loves. We leave Abe still glowering at the new girl in town, and I can't help notice that even though he has other customers to serve, he can't stop checking her out.
