Daisy

We are standing so close I can smell his woody aftershave, his forearms are big and the veins pop, and that is without him even moving them although he is idly playing with his truck keys.

I want to reach out and feel his scruff on his chin, it's pretty damn sexy I can tell you that much. "He's going to become a fine horse, you picked well." Deacon tells me, all the while keeping his eyes on Dreamer.

"I don't know that I really picked him as much as literally fell in love with him the moment I saw him." Dreamer is still resting his head over my shoulder. I kind of feel bad that he is taken away from his mother, maybe he had been a while back. Who knows.

"Do we know what happened to his mother or anything, you know like a back story?"

Deacon shakes his head. "No idea, I can find out for you if you like." He glances at me, my breath hitches as his blue eyes making me pool, wondering what they'd look like when aroused. I bet they go a smoldering dark blue. I feel myself flush. Dreamer moves away and nudges my face before making his way back to his hay feed.

"I bought him some junior feed too. It's over there." Deacon moves his head and I can see a gigantic bag of feed in the corner of the stables. His black horse, Lady Night his black magic Arabian horse whinnies. "Ssh girl, don't be so jealous." He moves away from me to stroke her nose. I instantly feel cold, okay not cold as in freezing cold but his heat is removed from my side. I liked it. I can feel myself slightly wet from being in such close proximity to Deacon.

"Thank you, Deacon for everything. I can pay you back for the feed. Dreamer will take a little longer."

"Told you, he is a present."

"He's a pretty huge present in terms of presents, Deacon. Don't you think?"

"Not really." He doesn't miss a heartbeat but keeps his eyes now on Lady Night. "If you like someone you gift them and besides, how could I leave him there? I wanted to make sure he is with someone who is going to love him, take care of him and give him the best start in his life journey. Couldn't think of anyone else better than you, Daisy."

Oh, wow he is making me swoon. Just the sound of his deep and gravelly voice gets me. Butterflies are whizzing around like crazy in my stomach and I am pooling with a capital P.

I move closer to him. Dare I touch him? What would he do if I placed my hand on his? Frankly, I think I've had enough of this growing up nonsense where he sees me only as Logan's kid sister. It's not like Logan has ever scared Deacon away from me with that whole she's off limits kind of bullshit. Or has he? No, surely not Logan. I can't imagine him ever doing that with Deacon.

Deacon has always had a clean, good reputation. It's no secret he sees someone every now and then in Coppertown but he's discreet enough. I only know because Lottie told me some time ago and when I asked Logan if Deacon had a steady girlfriend, he'd told me no but that he has a girl on a casual basis in the next town. Fair enough I suppose, I mean it's not like I've never dated any guys.

Although, Saunder could be in the running. Okay, that's a lie. I like Saunder he is an honest guy maybe a bit too cocky for my liking. He's broad and good looking, a real rancher and I bet some girl is going to take his hand some day but it won't be me. I know it's mean to confess to, but I was only using him to try to make Deacon jealous.

I think I managed it. I inhale deeply as Deacon nuzzles Lady Night's nose. He doesn't move. Maybe he isn't aware how close I am to him now. I check on Dreamer, he's content munching away and then I stand right next to Deacon. His body tenses.

I move my hand onto his left hand which is on the stable door, his other hand is caressing Lady Night's face and neck. Am I jealous, can you even be jealous of a horse? No, but I sure as hell wish that big hand was stroking my face and neck. My panties are getting wetter, my stomach is in knots. I've never been a forward kind of girl before, but hell they say there is a first time for everything, right?
