Deacon

Thanksgiving is already upon us and boy has the time gone quick. Daisy and I have been seeing each other almost every night and to be honest she spends more time at mine than she does at hers now. Which suits me just fine. Bonnie has become a permanent fixture over at my cabin and it also means that Daisy gets to spend more time with Dreamer, who is growing and will be a fine horse for her in no time at all.

Sage and Logan will be getting married in just over a week, I shake my head and chuckle, Logan got his girl. I'm stoked for him. It takes me back to when we were all at school and he had this crush on a girl with long legs, long hair and a smile to make Julia Roberts jealous. You got it, Sage and now that ring is firmly fixed on her finger and the cabin has had some adjustments, because Sage insisted they extended to accommodate two additional rooms. For what you may ask, let me tell you the woman is talking babies and Daisy is beyond excited for her brother and Sage to have those little ones. It's giving her all sorts of ideas and now she's not going to Paris anymore, she keeps looking all doey eyed at all the baby stuff that Sage shows her. I tell you, it makes me chuckle some, because I know what I have planned even though I am as nervous as a cat on a hot tin roof.

"Sir, needed down on Fraikin Street. Someone has apparently broken into the Jones' house." I scratch my head and reach for my hat.

"The Jones' house you say?"

"Yes, Sir," Clint says as I look at him.

"We never have a problem in town who would want to break into that sweet elderly couple's house. I am betting it's Mr Jones who has forgotten his darn key again, you know that man has memory problems. In fact, Logan was telling me the other day that he saw Mr Jones."

"That as it may be, Sir but Mrs Jones sounds like she's a woman in labor hollering and screaming down the phone that someone is trying to get into her house."

"Okay, okay. Well get someone on it, Mackie is out on patrol right now, he can get there quicker than we can. I'll go along as back up and you keep an eye on things here. No need for us all to show up. I have a hunch it's old man Jones trying to break into his own home." At least I hope that's what it is.

My phone rings I can see it is Daisy. "Hey lover boy, how is your day going?"

"Well there is some kind of ruckass down at the Jones' house so I'm about to leave to go check it out. How is your day?" I grab my keys and start to make my way out of the station.

"It's going well, listen I was thinking should I stay at mine tonight only I have been over at yours for weeks now ever since you spun that beautiful romantic night on me and only been home a handful of times."

"About that, Buttercup, why don't we talk about this later when I see you. I want you to make yourself perfectly at home at the cabin," I'm at my truck now and get myself seated and belted and start up the engine, placing my phone in the cradle so I can continue with the conversation. "You know I want you to stay over tonight. I have a suggestion for you but I can't talk right now beautiful."

"Sure, no problem. In that case I'll bring some cake over from Bluebell's and can cook us a nice stir fry. What time should I expect you?"

"Say five ish, I get off early today, Clint is on shift tonight. And Buttercup, wear that lace purple number you've got you know how hard it makes me for you." She gasps like she's never heard my dirty mouth run with me before, I can just imagine her in her shop with a customer close by and blushing beetroot.

"Marshal Deacon, I'll have you know not to speak to me like that on a public line." Public my ass, the girl has a customer, knew it.

"Gotta fly, Buttercup." I've already pulled out of the station car park, down Main Street and turned at the bottom to the street where the Jones' live. Mackie's car is parked outside and he is standing with Mr Jones.
