Daisy
I am still grinning from ear to ear over Deacon being literally outside mine as I stepped off my porch to get into my car. Truth be told, I kind of like it. You all know how much I like him already and one of these days, I'm going to throw myself right at him.
I'd love nothing more than to be held in those large, muscular arms of his and inhale his masculinity. Hey stop that right now, you hear. You've got an evening out with the girls to go to and having wet panties is not the way to start your night out. I giggle like a schoolgirl, but you know, if any man is worth a girl's wet fantasies, it sure is Marshal Deacon.
It takes only ten minutes to get down Main Street and take a left at the end down a dirt track road and veer off to the right to see the Lazy Duke's bar. It's an old cabin style building with rustic roofing and a neon sign hanging outside with the name on it.
It looks like it's already busy judging by the amount of cars parked out front. I find a space easy enough though, apply the handbrake, stick my old car in neutral and turn off the ignition. Checking the rearview mirror, I can see Holly walking behind my car.
Quickly I get out. "Hey Holly. Wait for me." I say. Holly, as I've said is Sage's best friend they go back since they were around five, which means I've also known Holly for most of my life since she and Sage are almost ten years older than me. Sometimes, when Sage used to babysit me, Holly would be with her.
"Look at you, would you. Hot." She says and gives me a big grin and a wink.
"In this old get up? You're kidding, right?" I go over and hook my arm through hers. There isn't anything particularly dressy about my bootleg cut, faded denim jeans, my sky-blue halter top with sequins on it and my favorite blue with flowers cowboy boots. I'm a bit cold since the fall evening is brisk. Maybe I should have slung a jacket over.
"With that body, girl you are smokin' hot." She pulls me into her. I chuckle
"Okay, I'll take it."
"I love how you're wearing your hair too. Did you do all that yourself?"
It's only a braid but I pulled out some bits to make it look messy and dotted dried flowers in it that I've fixed with pins. "I did indeed. You like it?"
"It's so pretty. I wish I'd grown my hair after having the kids then I could have been a bit more experimental." She sighs.
"I love your sharp bob though, Holly. It really suits your face and it's so chic." And it is the way it's shorter at the back and dives down below her chin at the front. Her hair is like dark chocolate, rich and glorious. Holly has always been the elegant one, me, I'm usually your shorts and jeans kind of girl. I wear my dresses to work mainly to showcase what I can create for customers, or of course if I'm going on a date. At home, however, I'm definitely a casual kind of girl.
We reach the old barn style door and step inside. Music from the jukebox is playing and I do spy that the mics are on the stage right at the front and the karaoke flat screen. "Looks like we're on for our singing session." I say as we go inside and head straight for the bar.
"Daisy, how are you?" Sandy a guy I dated a couple of times asks me. He's propping up the bar and is looking pretty good. He just didn't do it for me, when we kissed there were no fireworks, the moon was still the moon high in the sky and I didn't feel my toes curl. We had us some fun and then decided that we would be better suited as friends. His folks own the lumberjack yard here in Willowbrook and his sister, Gaynor and his ma run their shop that sells furniture his pop makes.
I lean in and give him a light kiss on the cheek. Holly releases my arm and looks around to see if she can spot Sage, Eliza and Sadie. I've not seen Lottie yet either.
