I felt like it was the perfect time to tell Danny that it was me in the Audrey Hepburn costume. He had been so distraught about not knowing who it was that I felt bad. It had basically been a month since the party.

"Hey, Danny? Can I talk to you after school?" I asked him in the hallways to first period. Confusion came across his face as he glanced down at me.

"Uhh... Okay?" He then walked away. I might've just screwed Christine and Danny up as we know it.

As I walked to my next class, I spotted a familiar face. It was Jerry! He doesn't go to this school though. "Hey Jerry!"

"Hey, Chris!" He smiled.

"You don't go here do you?" I asked, zipping up my backpack fully.

"Man, everyone was making fun of me at my old school after Stand By Me came out. Everyone taped a picture of me and a comb to my locker saying Mr and Mrs. Comb! Just married!" I let out a laugh but soon regretted it.

"I'm sorry, Jerry." He looked up at me and shrugged. Then we both said goodbye and walked to our next class.

I was going to tell Danny in industrial tech, but he had made so many friends in that class that I couldn't find a time to talk to him one on one anymore.

After school, he didn't wait for me. He walked his normal pace to the crosswalk where he gets picked up. But, luckily his parents weren't there yet so I approached him.

"I just wanted to tell you that... I um..." But just great, his friend Alex came up to him and they shook hands. Actually, this could work.

As Danny gave me a brief glance during his conversation with Alex, I said "I'm the Audrey Hepburn girl." Then I walked away, feeling his eyes burn the back of my head. I knew he had watched me strut the crosswalk and get into my car. I felt powerful and untouchable - but at the same time stressed about the idea of what I'm going to do at school tomorrow.

River came over after school so we could talk. "Hey. What's wrong?" He asked as he sat on my bed.

"N-nothing. I just told Danny that it was me," I said as I tied my matted coral hair up.

"What did he say?"

"He ignored me through the whole class. Then at the end of the day, he said he couldn't like me because he's dating Priscilla again. I screwed it up!" I put on my Imagine record and found myself thinking about Tom.

I laid on my bed and wrapped myself in the blanket. I was despondent and wretched and just not in the mood for anything but River's warm arms. Or Danny's for that matter.

"This song man... Reminds me so much of Tom. I think we need a happier setting." He took the needle off the record and replaced it with McCartney. Maybe I'm Amazed started playing.

"River! This reminds me of my mother now... Do you really think that's helping?" I snapped at him. He reached for the needle but I stopped him. "No, it's fine I'm sorry." He looked over at me like he had just dropped a priceless vase. It was silent for a little bit. That's when I noticed he had a paper with someone drawn on it. "What's that?" I pointed over to it.

"It's ah uh a drawing," he stuttered.

"A drawing of who?" I asked.

"Uh... A drawing of what I think my future wife would look like," he said as he showed me the drawing. It was amazing. He had such artistic talent.
