"Hey! Chris, wake up!" Samantha alarmed as I pushed myself groggily off the bed.

"What is it?" I asked while rubbing my eyes.

"It's a letter... From River Phoenix... He's an actor isn't he?" She asked, reluctantly handing me the letter. I nodded and ripped open the envelope with excitement.

Dear Chris,
I hope we can see each other again.
(Peace + love) River Jude Phoenix.

I placed my hand over my mouth, in complete and utter awe. Maybe he loves me. Maybe he loves me the way I love him.

"Wh-what does it say?" Sam said, trying to snatch it away from me.

"N-nothing. It says I left my shoes at his studio."

"Yeah, right," She sneered as I quickly stuffed it into my drawer with the rest of the notes from my mom.

"Now if you will let me sleep, it would be completely appreciated," I muttered as I fell onto a pillow with a huge demented smile plastered on my face.

"Hello?"

R: HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHRIS!

C: Thanks, the big 1-9! But why are you calling me so early in the morning?

R: It's your birthday of course!

C: Well thanks... Really. But I'm wide awake now you up to do something?

R: You're in New York Chris. I'm in Washington filming for my latest movie.

C: Not anymore. I'm in Portland visiting Iris and John. We should go to the strip.

R: Sounds like a plan... Oh, wait! I might have to raincheck... I'm babysitting Tom again. Did you know he moved back to Washington?

C: No? I thought he always lived in Washington... Or Oregon.

R: Not exactly. His dad would tour a lot, especially on the east coast. They lived in New Jersey for a little while then moved back here after his parents were having some complications.

C: So where's his mom?

R: His mom's out of town for the night.

C: What about his dad? Why is he touring?

R: His dad's supposedly this big rockstar... He's been on tour all year... He is coming back tomorrow though as well as his mom.

C: Ooh! Who is it!

R: I have no idea. Tom won't even tell me his last name.

C: Well... Why don't you bring Tom along to the strip? I'm sure he'd like to spend some time at the fair.

R: Yeah, yeah that's a good idea. He's with me right now... And he said sure! I'll meet you there in a few hours?

C: Okay! Bye.

R: Bye.

"Hey River!" He was there, wearing the most gaudy-looking flannel and some bootcut jeans. He smoked a cigarette, and I watched as it traveled over to Tom and he flicked his wrist at it. He took a long drag and examined me over and raised an eyebrow.

"Hey there Chris. You've gotten taller," I shrugged. "I'm gonna miss you once I head back to Gainesville." He ran his fingers through his hair sluggishly as it fell over his face.
