Lilith's pov

It was my fifth day of school. Ryland and Kayla went off school grounds for lunch today. I walked around the halls aimlessly. I didn't really eat much human food besides pizza and ice cream. There is just something about the greasiness of the pepperoni that I enjoy. The coldness and sweet flavors of ice creams have me craving more.

My eyes land on Kadence. She was sitting on the ground reading a book. A sandwich in one hand and a book on her lap. She looked beautiful. My eyes roam over her as I walk closer.

"You look weak down there," I mutter. Kadence slowly looked up. Her eyebrows furrowed.

"How does one not look weak sitting on the ground?" Kadence asked. She took a bite of her sandwich.

"The confidence one holds while being lower than others," I state. Kadence raised an eyebrow.

"Oh," Kadence mumbled while looking down at her book before she looked back at me. "I really look weak?"

"Yeah, kinda like I want to throw your food on the ground and shove you in a locker," I smirked. Kadence's eyes widened. "I'm joking, you don't look weak," I laugh. Kadence narrowed her eyes on me when I sat down next to her. "You look cute minding your own business," I say. A blush made its way onto her face.

A boy walks in our direction. His eyes were on us. Well his eyes were looking at Kadence. They roamed over her body before stopping on Kadence's chest. My eyes narrowed. When the boy was close enough I stuck my foot out causing him to fall.

"Eyes to your fucking self or I will take them from you," I grit through clenched teeth. The boy jumped up and ran away.

"So is that how one doesn't look weak while being lower than someone?" Kadence asked. I look at Kadence and I shrug.

"I don't know, it's my first time being on the ground," I state. Kadence pursed her lips. My head turns to the girl who was walking from the direction the boy ran off to. She locked eyes with me. I raised an eyebrow causing her to shift her eyes away from me and she walked past us faster. "Seems I am still powerful on the ground," I smirk and look at Kadence.

"That's because of fear. She was clearly afraid of what you would do to her," Kadence responded.

"Isn't that how power works?" I questioned. Kadence sighed.

"Most of the time I guess that's how power works. Just because one has power doesn't mean fear should be instilled in people because of the power someone else has over them," Kadence stated.

"She was only afraid because she was a weak human. I've done nothing to her or around her to cause her to be afraid of me," I muttered. Kadence licked her bottom lip causing my eyes to zero in on her mouth. I force my eyes away.

"I'm human," Kadence muttered. I smirk at her.

"Yeah but I don't see you as weak," I say. A small smile appeared on Kadence's face as she turned her head away from me.

"What about Kayla?" Kadence asked as she turned back to look at me. She took a bite of her sandwich.

"What about her?"

"Do you see her as weak?" Kadence wondered. I lick my lips. Kadence's eyes shift to my mouth. My lip curled into a smirk. Kadence snapped her eyes to her lap as her face heats up.

"Kayla is a weak human. I don't know how she is going to help run a pack of supernatural beings. I definitely wouldn't let her rule over a kingdom like I would with you," I say. Kadence's eyes widened slightly. Why the fuck did I just say that? She would most likely not want to be with a vampire demon. It would be best to be her friend instead of a chance of rejection. My chest hurt at the thought of Kadence wanting to reject me.

"You are an asshole," Kayla's voice entered my ears. I look at Kayla. She had a frown on her face.

"It's just my opinion," I say. Kayla shook her head.

"It's ok to keep some of your opinions to yourself. You don't have to be an asshole everyday of your life," Kayla says. I raise an eyebrow. After standing up I walk closer to her. I stand in front of her.

"I'm not going to stop speaking my opinions because it may hurt your feelings. Grow a back bone and stand up for your fucking self and maybe you can become something other than weak in my eyes," I say before walking past her.

"Fucking asshole!" Kayla shouted. I turn around with a smirk.

"There's a start," I chuckle before turning around and walking off. Ryland walks into the school. He walks over to me.

"Did you piss Kayla off again. She looks mad," Ryland says, glancing behind me towards his mate.

"Maybe. So is school always this boring?" I asked. Ryland looked at me before chuckling.

"What it's not up to your standards, princess?" Ryland jokes. I roll my eyes at him.

"It's my fifth day and nothing good has happened," I grumble. Ryland raised an eyebrow.

"Finding your beloved isn't good enough for you?"

"I'm talking about a fight. I was expecting to see at least one especially with all these wolves around. I'm disappointed. Watching a fight is the next best thing then doing the work yourself." Ryland laughs, causing me to glare at him.

"Yeah sorry, there is a ban on werewolf fights at school after a human saw one shift," Ryland says.

"What the fuck am I supposed to do during the school day now?" I asked. Ryland looked at me while placing his hand on my shoulder.

"Maybe you could actually do the work and learn something... Just a random idea that came to me just now," Ryland added the last part when I gave him a look.
