Lilith's pov

Ryland's pack was attacked last night. A whole pack of rogues got onto their land. They were with the rogues we captured months ago for getting onto Ryland's land. Kadence went over to Ryland's house to be with Kayla.

I stopped at my dad's place. Kaylen was walking out of the room. She raised an eyebrow at me.

"Your father isn't here. He took the babies to the underworld for a playdate with your brother," Kaylen says. I raise an eyebrow with a smirk.

"What brother? I seem to have four," I chuckled. Kaylen rolled her eyes at me. "All Jokes aside I just came to see if you were heading over to the pack to help burn the rogue bodies and collect your dead pack members."

"I was getting ready to head out right now," Kaylen states while heading to the door. I follow after her.

"Want a lift?" I asked. While my wings slide from my back. Kaylen crossed her arms over her chest.

"I hear how you fly with your mate. I don't want to find out how you fly with someone that you can live without," Kaylen says, causing me to laugh lightly.

"Suit yourself," I state before shooting off into the sky. The wind whipped all around me as I flew. I could see Kaylen's wolf running through the trees below me. She breaks through the clearing. There were dead bodies everywhere. Kaylen slows down causing me to dive and tackle her. Her wolf growled and twisted her body to try and get out of my hold.

"Lilith! Really at a time like this?" Ryland shouted at me. I released Kaylen, causing her wolf to face me. She huffed air at my face. My hair blew back. Kaylen took off and came back shifted. She narrowed her eyes on me causing me to laugh.

"Oh come on. You would not have expected it and I was right. It's not like I hurt you," I say pushing myself up off the ground.

"Of course not there are dead pack members laying around at least you can respect the dead by not fucking off," Kaylen scolded.

"Right," I sigh. I turn to the closest body. "I am sorry for my behavior," I say to the body. Ryland shook his head. Kaylen rubbed her forehead. My eyes flicker around the bodies. There was a shimmering shield surrounding the bodies. My eyebrows furrowed as I lean closer. "What is that?"

"What?" Kaylen asked. I point to the shimmering force field around the dead. "There is nothing there, Lilith."

"It's shimmering, how do you not see it?" I asked.

"Maybe you should go home, Lilith. You're seeing things," Ryland states before walking away. My wings twitch with irritation. Why can't they see it?

Maybe I am seeing things. My head tingles. I take a few steps forward. The shimmering was still there. Only now I could see shadow-like figures moving around inside the shimmering force field. I reach out and touch the shimmer. Nothing happens. My hand goes through it. My hand became a distant shadow.

"There is definitely something there," I mutter.

"Whatever you say, Lilith. Try not to disrupt anyone. These wolves are a part of someone's family," Kaylen states before sighing. I glanced at Kaylen as she walked away to help someone drag a rogue to the burn pile. My gaze returns to the mysterious shimmer. With a shrug I step all the way into the shimmer. I could still see Ryland and his pack. There were others walking around that I couldn't see before. People with wings. White pristine wings. Angels. The shadows were the dead wolves laying around us.

Holy shit. My eyes flicker between the Angels and the lingering souls. I see an angel kneel down next to a wolf from Rylands pack. Her hand shot through the wolf's body before pulling her soul out. The human version of the wolf.

"The lost souls are over there," A woman says to me. She points to the rogues. Their souls were terrorizing everyone from a small cage keeping them trapped in one spot.

"I'm not Akiran's pet," I scoffed. The angel looked up quickly. Her hazel eyes narrowed on me.

"You're not Akiran at all. How are you here?" she questioned.

"I saw the shimmer," I state while crossing my arms over my chest. She raised her eyebrow.

"You saw the shimmer? What shimmers?"

"The barrier keeps them from seeing you," I state. Pointing to the wolves. Kaylen was staring at me worriedly. I got weird looks from some of the passing wolves. Great, it looks like I'm talking to myself. Wait. how can they see me yet not them.

"The barrier was meant for us, not you. That's why you can be seen," the woman states with a smile. She found this funny.

"Amaya, we don't have all day," another woman scolds while walking over. She had golden brown eyes and dark brown hair.

"Amaris, look this demon got through the barrier and claims she isn't Akiran's worker," Amaya states. Amaris stared at me.

"You have the wings but not the whole look," she states. I raised an eyebrow. Brezin shifts with a smirk. The angels jump back with a screech.

"Is that better for you?" I asked. Amaya leaned into Amaris.

"She doesn't look like the others Akiran has sent. Or the devil himself," Amaya whispered.

"Of course not. I'm a hybrid. I'm also a vampire," I snorted. Their eyes widened as they took a step back. "I only drink from animals though I'm sure your blood would be the absolute best. For my demon that is."

"Where is Akiran? He was supposed to be here by now," Amaris says. My lip curls up.

"I don't know. I'm not his bitch," I shrug.

"Lilith!" Akiran snapped.

"Would you look at that, he arrived," I smiled at the angels before my smile disappeared as I turned to Akiran. "Yes, my sweet as hell stepfather?" I asked. Akiran narrowed his eyes.

"Leave the angels alone. Adimus doesn't like it when we talk to them. Thinks we'll corrupt them," Akiran says. I roll my eyes.

"Please if I was still the same person I was before my beloved then I would have corrupted them already. Since I'm a slightly better person now thanks to Kadence I can have a decent conversation with these holy creatures," I state.

"Not today you aren't. There is a field of souls needing to get to where they need to be. They have a job to do and I don't want to listen to Adimus' bitching today. Any other day I could go back and forth with him. Your brother won't let me sleep lately."

"I love that for you," I smirk.

"Go bring those souls to Xyla," Akiran says. With a groan I step forward.

"Are you ever going to let her take over with her being on your bad side or are you waiting for Zander to get old enough?" I asked.

"Zander wouldn't be able to take over anyways. He isn't a demon," Akiran states. I purse my lips. That is true. I forgot he was a vampire.

"Are you trying to have another kid with the chance of it being a demon to spite your daughter?" I asked. Akiran gave me a look before pointing to the souls. With a deep sigh I take the souls to Xyla.
