the wind blew gently across kings landing. the newly named heir stood outside on the balcony looking out to the sea. days had passed since the coronation and he waited for dragons flying over head. for his mother to demand her throne back. her birthright. maybe four dragons. she was sure to bring her first born and second son.

he heard heels behind him but he didn't need to look to see who it was. "mother," he spoke.

"what's wrong, son?" alicent asked as she stood beside him. he looked at her taking in her features. her ginger hair was in a ponytail, the green and blue dress had little embroidery of dragon scales, and her fingers had three different rings on. a blue one for Luke and teal green for Aegon and Helaena, the gold band being her marriage ring.

"it feels like I've betrayed mother," he says looking back out.

alicent gently shook her head and grabbed his hand, "Luke, the gods made their choice. they might not want to believe it but in the end they will have to accept it."

"and if they don't? I... I'm not going to kill them," Lucerys could feel a coil tighten around his throat as he got the words out. the last thing the house of the dragon needed was needless blood spilt.

"I know you won't. we won't. we will offer them terms and do all of this peacefully," alicent reassured him.

"we won't tell them till after my mother has her baby." Luke reminds her. alicent nods in agreement. she might dislike Rhaenyra but to lose a child is something she wouldn't wish on her worse enemy.

Lucerys softly smiled at her before looking back at the city. "I'm glad they finally finished that new building," he comments.

"it's a nice addition. the wedding is set for tomorrow. you must rest." alicent told him. Luke gave her a small nod before leaving to his chambers. the wedding was going to be just the greens and rhaenys, plus corlys. the day of the wedding Helaena was dressed by Alicent.

her dress was white and gold, her hair in braids with loose curls, pearl earrings, and light makeup touches. rhaenys helped Lucerys with the finishing touches onto his clothes. the black and red uniform with the Targaryen sygil.

"does this feel wrong to you?" he asked her.

"if the gods chose you it's because you have something inside of you that none of us do. inside, in your bones, in your blood, you are so much more than you, yourself, even realize. I would've fought with fire and blood to put you on the iron throne myself," rheanys told him as she pushed back his curls.

"thank you for the support, grandmother. my mother, Rhaenyra, might not see it the way the rest of us do," Luke responded.

rhaenys gave a long sigh, "if I were her and I just found out my father named my son heir to the throne because he saw a sign from the gods... I wouldn't even question it."

Lucerys smiled and gave her a hug. "oh, sweet boy, Laenor would be so proud."

the comment made Luke's heart crack a little. he just pasted on a smile and held her hand as they walked out to the small ceremonial place outside.

Alicent placed a flower crown that was held together by gold and little pieces of pearls on top of Helaena's head. she ran turned Helaena around to fix the little silver hairs that stuck out. she stopped and admired her daughter.

"helaena, I know I wasn't a good mother to begin with and I hope we can truly start to trust each other," alicent smiled at her as she caressed her cheek.

"I would like for that too mother," Helaena softly smiled and gave her kiss on the cheek.

"Aegon wanted to walk you down the aisle," alicent said. helaena gave her a simple nod and they made their way out as well. the ceremony was held in front of the godswood. flowers littered the grass and vines that wrapped around the trees. Rhaenys and Corlys stood to Luke's left side and viserys and Alicent to the right as they watched Aegon and Helaena walk down the aisle.
