She should fly off.

She should return home.

Instead, she tightens her grip on the reins and turns Meleys around to face the wrath of the Usurper Aegon Targaryen and his brother Aemond Targaryen. Sunfyre is already damaged thanks to her. That doesn't mean Aegon would back out of the fight. As she turned on Meleys with the order to attack on her tongue a shadow passed over her. It's quick and dark. She doesn't see the same shadow past Aegon or Aemond. Instead, she sees Aegon stop in fear and Aemond halts Vhagar from charging. It's too late to stop Vhagar. She was charging straight for Meleys so whatever it was Rhaenys tugged the reins away from nearly meeting the dragon's maw. In her sharp left turn, another dragon collided with Vhagar. Jaws clamp shut around the she-dragon and furiously drag her like a rag doll. rhaenys looks back watching the dark-winged dragon, nearly the size of the Dragonstone castle bite its jaw tightly around her and slam her into the ground. rhaenys watches in shock as Aegon pulls his reins and urges Sunfyre to flee. The black dragon hovers over the older dragon. She moves Meleys to see the rider. A small gasp escaped her lips seeing the curly brown hair of her supposed dead nephew.

dracarys!” Lucerys yelled. Green dragon flames consume the dragon underneath, essentially ending the last largest dragon in Westeros.

They don't bother to find out if the rider is dead. Lucerys proceeded to burn the rest of the Greens' army and keep Rooks Rest in their yoke. Rhaenys pulls up beside the sizable beast and its rider.

“you must return home immediately!” rhaenys yells at him.

Bright brown eyes filled with anger snap at her violet ones. “you return. I have work to do,” Lucerys responded.

She watches the boy not even command the dragon but fly off. Returning to Dragonstone, she enters the council meeting.

“Well?” jacaerys asked.

“I consider it a win. Although I'm not sure how much of a win it is. Aegon was there but fled when…” Rhaenys found her words dying out as she glanced between her Queen and her husband. An heir was back from the seas. An heir who was supposed to be dead.

“what what?” Rhaenyra asked.

“a large dragon, nearly bigger than Vhagar, arrived for the rescue. I wish I could say if Aemond was dead but Vhagar certainly was. The rider… the rider proceeded to fly off,” she added.

“And who was this rider? I'm sure you got a look at them,” her queen added.

“I did. The rider was your second son, Lucerys Velaryon,” she answered.

She can see the room tense at the mention that Lucerys Velaryon was alive.

Rhaenyra felt her heart slow. Corlys felt his breathing turn heavy. Jacaerys felt a sharp stinging sensation spread across his chest.

Luke was alive.

“Where did he go! why didn't you follow him!” Rhaenyra screamed.

The queen who never simply shook her head. She didn't know why. Why she didn't follow nor why she didn't ask what he was going to do. Her mind was too struck by the boy being alive. Instead, she smiled, “he seems healthy and hale. He wore a dark gray and blue uniform. I couldn't see if it had a sigil or not. His brown eyes were fueled with fire. Trust Lucerys will come back to you my queen.”

Healthy and hale was one way to put it. Luke and his dragon, Cannibal, destroyed every house that held the damn Green banner. He didn't bother to fly after Aegon. Craven was what he was. Two days he and Cannibal spent burning houses and men that stood in his way. He avoided Harrenhal since his stepfather would be there. He wasn't ready to deal with Daemon just yet. Instead, he turned back to the seas. He flew back to the Iron Islands. His new home. As expected when he landed roughly on the islands, Dalton Greyjoy waited for him.

It took Luke a couple of minutes to climb off the big beast but he managed. Lucerys held tears as he walked through the many lords and ladies of the Islands. His riding gear stunk of burnt flesh and his face covered in ash. Dalton was in the war room with his men when the door swung open and Luke was announced.

Prince Lucerys of House Velaryon! Son of Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen!”

Men bowed to the prince as he came to a stop and Dalton walked towards him. The Red Kraken. Is a ruthless man known for his brutality. But in this moment, the man who is feared by many under the eyes of many lords, watched as he pressed his forehead against Luke's temple. Speaking in a very low tone for only Luke to hear.

“Did you do what you needed to do?” he asked.

Bright blue eyes like the ocean collided with dark watery brown ones. Dalton was taller than Luke, the sides of his head shaved and his hair braided, a smile of a wolf that would scare someone. It only angered Luke when he was rescued from the seas. Lucerys had no recollection of who he was until one fateful night. Nightmare after nightmare he had of the large beast that killed his poor dragon. His cradle brother. His other soul. Murdered and taken by the largest beast to roam the skies. Dalton had entered his chambers to see what the screaming was about but when entered he was met with a blade against his throat. Greyjoy smiled at the boy's fighting spirit. His memories resurfaced and he told him.

I'm Prince Lucerys Velaryon, son of the rightful queen of the seven kingdoms, Rhaenyra Targaryen, and rider of Arrax.”

Dalton didn't believe him til Luke had run off one night to Dragonstone. Returning with the Cannibal. A dragon that shouldn't have been tamed but Luke did it. What more could he lose than his sanity? His coin landed.

Luke shook his head.

He wasn't sure Aemond Targaryen was dead but he was sure the cunt no longer had a dragon. Luke tightened his hand around Dalton's, “we set sail for Dragonstone. tonight.”

Dalton turned to his men, “Tonight we sail to Dragonstone! We bend the knee to the rightful queen!”

His men whooped and shouted as they rushed to sail for Dragonstone. Dalton faced his sweet pearl, gently tilting his head to look up at him, “You must bathe and rest. You've been on dragonback these past days.”

Lucerys softly, ever so, smiled, “Join me.”
